New Delhi, July 27 (IANS) India's swankiest and largest terminal -- T3 -- at the Indira Gandhi International Airport here completes one year of operations Thursday.

Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), the company which operates the airport, said the completion of one year of successful operations would be commemorated by various events.

"To commemorate the event, a grand shopping festival is being held inside the terminal where passengers can avail offers and discounts up to 50 percent at the retail and food and beverages outlets," DIAL said in a statement.

The festival will be on till Aug 8. Besides, a live musical performance will also be organised inside the terminal to mark the occasion.

Commenting on the terminal's retail sector success, DIAL chief executive I. Prabhakara Rao said: "In the last one year, Terminal-3's retail area has seen remarkable success."

Currently, T3 possesses the country's largest retail area in an airport. Spread across 20,000 square metres, it offers a wide variety of Indian and international brands.

One of the largest passenger terminals in the world, T3 was inaugurated by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh July 3, 2010. The integrated terminal, which houses both domestic and international airlines, was built in record 37 months at the cost of nearly $3 billion.

Currently, Air India, Kingfisher Airlines and Jet Airways operate domestic and international operations from T3. Air India had earlier announced its plans for making T3 its hub in India.

All international flights and airlines also use T3, which boasts of multi-layer parking facility that can accommodate over 4,300 cars.
