Bantwal: Youth electrocuted while plucking areca nuts using hook

Daijiworld Media Network – Bantwal (MS)

Bantwal, Jun 9: In a tragic incident that occurred at Malayibettu under rural police station limits, a man got electrocuted while he was removing areca nuts from the tree on Friday June 9.

The deceased is identified as Shafi (28), son of Ibrahim, a resident of Boliyaru village. The incident took place when Shafi was removing the areca nuts from the arecanut tree of Moosabba, a resident of Sajipa Munnuru village.

It is said that Shafi was into arecanut trading for many years. He used to take the areca nut trees on lease and pluck the arecanut when it was harvest time. This year, he had bought a long handle fibre hook to pluck areca nuts that costs thousands of rupees.

Shafi was trying to remove the arecanut with the new hook, while he lost control and the hook came in touch with the LT wire that was passing through the road on the side of the farm. An iron knife that was fixed on the top of the hook touched the LT wire and electrocuted Shafi killing him instantly.

Village accountant of Sajipamunnuru Swati, officials of Mescom and rural police visited the spot.

What "free guarantee jumla" has got to do with the victim and his death? Why do you think he was not working hard? He was doing this business for long, unfortunately while working he lost his life, which was his destiny. Do you remember those fake promises made by Modi before he came to power? It's 9 years now. Did you get 15 lakhs? Did he bring back the black money? Did he waive the farmers' loan which he promised that it would be the first thing he would do as soon as he comes to power? The list is long, I don't want to make my comments too long by writing his failed promises. Just don’t comment for the sake of commenting. Make some sensible comments even if you don't agree with something.

RIP! How can a pure fiber hook transmit electric current even though it had a metal hook on top? Definitely; due to rainy weather the hook was damp and he was not well grounded by his footwear, which too might have been wet! Almost every second day, we get to hear such incidents in DK, another leading cause of deaths after MVAs!!

Kujuma, over the years there has been hardly any improvement in basic safety for humans or any infrastructure development in DK; this power utility company works on the same stone age technology putting innocent people's lives at great risk; a lot many people have already lost their lives but who is bothered !!

With bare HT wires running around haphazardly mingled with cable TV, telephone, and internet wires in between huge hoardings what safety can a common man expect! There is no basic provision of electricity tripping in case of a wire falling down or touching a wet tree! Only safety is the creator's blessing!
