Udupi: Accused in offertory box theft sentenced to six months in prison

Udupi, Jun 8: Chief CJ and CJM court of the city sentenced accused in the case of offertory box theft of Sri Neelakanta Swamy Babbuswamy daivastana of Badagubettu village of the taluk to six months in prison.

Prakash (40), is the accused who was convicted by the court. A case was registered in city police station against Prakash of stealing an offertory box from Babbuswamy daivastana on October 30, 2022. Police inspector Vasappa Naik, who conducted the investigation had filed a chargesheet in court.

Justice Vignesh Kumar, who conducted the inquiry, found the accused guilty and sentenced him to six months in prison and Rs 2000 fine. If the accused fails to pay the fine, he has to undergo one month of simple imprisonment.

Senior assistant public prosecutor Jayanti K argued for the prosecution.
