Mangaluru/Udupi: IMD warns of cyclonic conditions in Arabian Sea, heavy rainfall during next 4 days

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru/Udupi (SS)

Mangaluru/Udupi, Jun 7: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall during the next four days in the coastal region following the development of a low pressure area in the Arabian Sea resulting in formation of cyclonic conditions.

The IMD has also warned of rough weather in the seas and the likelihood of rainfall in the next four days.

The district administration is taking precautionary measures and has issued guidelines to the public.

Fishermen have been mandatorily prohibited from venturing into the sea. Public and tourists have also been warned against stepping into the water in the river/sea. Also, children and the public have been cautioned against standing near beaches or below the electric poles/buildings and trees.

The district administrations of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi have issued an alert to the public and residents living in low-lying areas to move into safer zones.

I hope the prediction by IMD is correct to the core. Earlier, the people of Udupi and Mangalore have been eagerly waiting for the rains, thunderstorms, whatever you may call it. But we need the rain.

We are getting this type of warning by IMD through SMS or TV since last 45 days. But unfortunately there is no sign of rain in Mangalore. But one thing is sure the IMD (prediction) will become true as the monsoon is approaching .
