Mangaluru: CISF personnel find diamonds worth Rs 1.69 cr at MIA with Dubai bound passenger

Mangaluru, May 28: During the pre-embarkation security check of passengers on Thursday, May 25, at the Mangaluru International Airport (MIA), the CISF personnel intercepted a Dubai bound passenger and retrieved 2 pouches concealed in his underpants on the suspicion that they contained precious stones.

The passenger hailing from Kasaragod was offloaded and handed over by CISF to the Customs officers at the airport for further investigation.



The two pouches were found to contain 13 small packets with diamonds of different sizes totally weighing 306.21 ct and were valued at Rs.1.69 crores.

The passenger was arrested and produced before the Magistrate who remanded him to judicial custody.  Further investigations are in progress.
