Bantwal: Toddy tapper falls to death from palm tree

Bantwal, Apr 2: A man lost his balance while tapping toddy on top of a palm tree and fell to his death in Shamboor village on March 31.

The deceased is Lokaiah Poojary (52), a resident of Kundayagoli.

Lokaiah had climbed the palm tree at Konkanarakodi to tap toddy as usual, but he accidentally slipped and fell. He sustained serious injuries and was taken to Mangaluru hospital. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries later that night.

Lokaiah worked as both a mason and a toddy tapper. A case has been registered in connection with the incident at Bantwal City Police Station.
