Mangaluru: KMC Hospital releases video on 'Traffic Behaviour - Make Way for the Ambulance'

Mangaluru, Jan 16: KMC Hospital, Mangaluru, in association with Mangaluru city traffic police, have jointly released a public awareness video on 'Traffic Behaviour – Make Way for the Ambulance', at an event held at KMC Hospital, Dr B R Ambedkar Circle.

The video was released by Geetha Kulkarni, assistant commissioner of Police, (Traffic), Mangaluru city police, in the presence of Dr B Unnikrishnan, dean, Kasturba Medical College, Mangaluru, Saghir Siddiqui, regional chief operating officer, KMC Hospital, Mangaluruand Dr Jeedhu R, head, Emergency Medicine, KMC Hospital, Mangaluru.

The video has been graphically done by KMC Hospital to create awareness amongst the general public to foster favourable traffic behaviourbymaking way for ambulances during emergency conditions.

Speaking on the occasion, Geetha Kulkarni, assistant commissioner of Police, (Traffic), Mangaluru city police, said, “Every year, the National Road Safety Week is observed from January 11 to 17. The week intends to spread awareness about road safety, which is a major concern for authorities as well as the government. I am very glad that KMC Hospital has taken this noble initiative by launching a video on traffic behaviour. I hope this initiative will help the general public gain greater awareness of such emergency services that can save the lives of people.”

Dr B Unnikrishnan, dean, Kasturba Medical College, Mangaluru, “Emergency medical services are an essential component of a healthcare system. These services provide timely and appropriate medical treatment, especially in cases of life-threatening illness or injury. Among the various types of emergency medical services, road ambulance is the most common and widely used, providing immediate medical assistance in emergency situations. The video showcases the need to foster proper traffic behaviour among the public during emergencies.”

Saghir Siddiqui, regional chief operating officer, KMC Hospital, Mangaluru, said, “We are glad that the Mangalore City Traffic Police have joined hands for this noble initiative taken up by KMC Hospital, Mangaluru. He also lauded the efforts being taken by the Mangalore City traffic police in maintaining the traffic of the city and highlighted the support during emergency services like the green corridor, organ transportation during organ transplants and also appreciated that the traffic police have been ensuring 24/7 road safety of the people in all-weather conditions in Mangaluru."
