Mangaluru, Dec 23: Though green signal is given for the four land national highway project from Kulshekar in the city to Sanoor in Karkala, NHAI is delaying the work as the rate for land acquisition from four villages is still not finalized.

Dileep Buildcon Limited has begun work from one end as 80% of the land required for the project is already acquired. However, the land acquisition on the other end is not yet begun.

Land acquisition of four villages of Padavu, Badagulipadi, Kudupu and Tiruvail is pending. The project which is limping since 10 years will be further delayed due to this hurdle.

Rate fixing of of Padavu village on an area of 2.5 km is still not done. A proposal is sent from special land aquistion authority to NHAI to release Rs 286.58 crore for 3.74 hectare of land. But it is not yet approved.

For Badagulipadi village notification is published in 2020 and proposal is submitted in November 2021 to release Rs 69.80 crore for 4.09 hectare of area. For Kudupu village, proposal to release Rs 13.70 crore for 0.93 hectare land is already submitted in 2017. However, the project director says that he cannot answer any queries on this matter and asks to contact Bengaluru office of NHAI.

A total of 45 meter road is developed with 40/60 partnership of NHAI and the contractor. In total 222 hectare land is required for the work. Out of this 85.6 hectare of government land and 29 hectare of existing road is being used. Already 180.81 hectare of land is acquired. As much as 12 hectare is still pending.

The project is being implemented at a cost of Rs 1137 crore except the land acquisition amount. Work order is given to contractor Dilep Buildcon on August 10. The project needs to get completed by October 2024.
