Science, Technology, Engineering and Management is the future of India: Mahabaleshwara Bhat


Mumbai, (RBI) Dec 13: According to Mahabaleshwara Bhat M S, managing director and CEO of Karnataka Bank, Science, Technology, Engineering and Management is the future of India. To become successful, earlier we used to say that we have to work hard. But now we have to work not only hard but also smart. Smartness is the requirement of the future. He was addressing the first year students of Engineering and Management Studies at St John Technical and Educational Campus Palghar during the induction programme.

The Induction programme of first year students was held at the Auditorium of Engineering College and started with universal prayer followed by lighting of the lamp and SaraswatiVandana.

Chairman of Aldel Education Trust Albert D'Souza while welcoming the dignitaries and students to the induction programme said that current year is the 15th Academic year of the Campus and he thanked the students and parents for choosing the Campus for the higher professional education. He said Engineering College and Pharmacy College of the Campus are having NBA & NAAC Accreditation at the same time. Engineering College ranks at 12 th number out of 60 Colleges of Mumbai University and Pharmacy College ranks 2 nd out of the 30 colleges of Mumbai University. He said Campus is imparting quality education to the semi urban area of
Palghar district youths.

The introduction of the chief guest Mahabaleshwara M S, was done by Aldridge D’Souza Trustee member and introduction of former vice Chancellor of University of Mumbai Dr Suhas Pednekar was done by Dr Savita Tavro, deputy campus director & principal of St John Institute of Pharmacy and Research.

Speaking on the occasion, chief guest of the programme Mahabaleshwara M S, MD & CEO of Karnataka Bank said that the future is influenced by digital world, Digital economy and Digital engineering. He said students are going to define the digital movement of the world. Everyone get associated and think about this digital activity. That type of thinking is a must to be the citizens of global village. Digital revolution is inevitable. He advised the students not only to be a good children to parents but also should be a responsible citizens of our country.

Former vice Chancellor of University of Mumbai Dr.SuhasPednekar who presided over the function as Induction Officer while addressing the students said that this is very important day in your life since you are entering into the new phase. He said, I am basically a teacher and teacher is having a bad habit of asking questions. But there is difference that for the question which I am asking now, you need not answer now, you may take your own time even years. He said my first question to you is when the history will be written about you down the line 30-40 years, what you would be you like to known as. He said I would like to ask where you stand today? Look back your journey especially at school level and analyse it. Where you want to go from here? How you would like to reach where you wanted? What are the resources you require to reach there? What are the likely obstacles to reach there? When you arrive answer to all these questions, you will get the answer to my first question.

Speaking further he said there are 3 pillars which makes your journey successful. They are personal pillar, Professional Pillar and Social Pillar. What you are expected to do is how to strengthen these three pillars. Of course they are integrated to one another. You have to draw a line. Those who are fail to understand this, will spend their whole life in correcting. He said education is equal to future. The two purposes of education is that one it helps to discover yourself and another it helps you to transfer mirror into window. He said one cannot be selfish.

Secretary of the Trust Elvina D’Souza, treasurer of the Trust Elaine Bothello, Trustee Aldridge D’Souza, Deputy Campus Director and Principal of Pharmacy College Dr Savita Tauro, Dr PandarinathGhonge in charge principal of St John Engieering College were on the dais along with Chairman and other guests.

VidhyadharPatil, HR Advisor, Satheesh Shetty general manager campus, SudheerBabu HR manager, V M Samaga deputy general manager Karnataka Bank were present during the programme.

Dr PandarinathGhonge in charge Principal of St John Engieering College gave the vote of thanks. The programme was compared by faculty members Beatrice Lobo and AmanYadav. The programme was concluded with singing of National Anthem.
