From parking lot to podcast studio: Mumbai guard’s inspiring journey

Mumbai, Jan 13: What began as a brief conversation in an apartment parking lot in Mumbai has transformed into a life-changing career for Aniket Katkar, who once worked as a security guard and now leads production for popular digital creator Kushal Lodha’s podcast shoots.

Lodha recently shared Katkar’s journey on X, a post that quickly won widespread admiration online. “He was a security guard in my building 2 years ago. And today, he leads the production of all podcasts that we shoot. He’s Aniket Katkar,” Lodha wrote.

Recalling their first interaction, Lodha said Katkar had approached him while he was walking through the parking area and expressed his passion for videography. “Mujhe videos record karne ka bohot shauk hai. Kya main aapse mil sakta hoon?” Katkar had asked, seeking an opportunity to learn.

The two met the following Sunday, and impressed by Katkar’s eagerness and willingness to learn, Lodha offered him a chance to shoot his podcasts. Katkar went on to teach himself video recording, handling microphones, connecting audio mixers and maintaining production quality.

“Fast forward to today, there’s not a single shoot where he’s not present, and he talks to all the guests freely,” Lodha said, praising Katkar’s growth and confidence.

Lodha concluded by emphasising the value of attitude over credentials. “You don’t need fancy degrees to succeed. All you need is hunger and the attitude to learn. If a person’s learning attitude ends, his old age begins,” he remarked.

Social media users lauded both Katkar’s determination and Lodha’s support. Many highlighted how traditional degree requirements often limit opportunities for talented individuals, while others described the story as inspiring and heartwarming.

Kushal Lodha, a Mumbai-based digital creator, was featured in Forbes India’s ‘India’s Top 100 Digital Stars’. He runs a business and finance-focused YouTube channel with over 500,000 subscribers. A Chartered Accountant by qualification, Lodha previously worked with the investment team at Aditya Birla Ventures and is also the author of two books.
