Dec 9: No new cases reported from Dakshina Kannada, Udupi

Mangaluru/ Udupi, Dec 9: No fresh cases were reported from twin districts Dakshina Kannada and Udupi on Friday, December 9.

The total number of positive cases in Dakshina Kannada district has risen to 1,37,189, out of which 1 are currently active. No patients were discharged on December 9.

No deaths were reported on December 9. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,862.

The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authorities.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,16,05,880 as fine in 96,212 incidents of mask violation.

Udupi

Nil coronavirus cases were reported on December 9. The total active Covid cases are zero.

The death toll in the district so far stands at 550.

A total of 10,90,865 people have received the first dose of vaccination and 10,86,733 have received both doses and 3,00,498 people have received booster doses.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 60,94,570 as fine and 55,123 people have been penalised.
