Mangaluru Sep 25: President of Dakshina Kannada Co-operative Milk Producers' Union Sucharitha Shetty inaugurated a daylong ‘Neermarga Krishi Mela’ here at Neermarga Seva Sahakari Association hall on Sunday, September 25.
The Neermarga Krishi Mela is jointly organized by the Catholic Sabha, Mangaluru Pradesh City warado, Pranava Sauharda Sahakari Ltd, Savayava Krishika Grahaka Balaga, Dakshina Kannada Co-operative Milk Producers' Union, Neermarga Milk Producers' Union and Neermarga Service Co-operative Society.
Speaking on the occasion, Sucharitha Shetty said, "Neermarga Krishi Mela is a much needed program to create awareness about the importance of agriculture. I congratulate the organizers. The Christian community is always at the forefront not only in agriculture but also in education and social service. The young generation needs to develop interest towards agriculture so that they are self employed.
Parish priest of Guardian Angel Church Angelore Fr William Menezes said, "We have sidelined agriculture very badly. Indulging in agriculture will give us a good and healthy life as it should be nurtured like a baby and it, in turn, will take care of us for life."
In his presidential remarks, program president Fr James D'Souza said, "I hope this Krishi Mela will reach the masses and inspire the agriculturists."
Meanwhile, parish priest of Guardian Angel Church, Angelore Fr William Menezes inaugurated the stalls pertaining to agriculture.
President of Catholic Sabha, Mangaluru Pradesh Stany Lobo, secretary Norine Pinto, president of Pranava Sauharda Sahakari Ltd G R Prasad, Elias Fernandes from Fourwinds, veterinary doctor from KMF Dr Nithyananda Bhakta, associate professor of computer science department Sneha Bhat, resource person Praveen K, Catholic Sabha city warado immediate past president Wilfred Alvares, secretary Wilma Moneterio and others were present.
Catholic Sabha city warado president Colin Miranda welcomed the gathering, convenor of Neermarga Krishi Mela Santhosh Saldanha proposed a vote of thanks, Roshan M Kamath and Sapna Saldanha Vamanjoor compered the event.
