Hebri: Pregnancy reveals minor girl's rape by her 28-year-old relative

Hebri, Sep 21: An incident of rape on a minor girl by her 28-year-old relative here has come to light late after the victim got pregnant.

The girl was reportedly raped during July this year. The matter came to light when the girl went to the hospital to abort the child.

The incident occurred in Hebri police station limits. A case under Pocso Act is registered at the police station.

The accused, identified as Bacchappu resident Ganesh Shettigar(28) has been arrested, produced in the court and remanded to 14 days judicial custody.

    It appears to be a consensual act though the girl was a minor; surprising that he never bothered to use any contraceptive which are freely available?? By this, I am not in any way, supporting this man's deed!!!

    Waah.. shows your mentality. Marrying as a solution for rape. With such cheap mentality more rapists will come up in the society. As there is no punishment for rape. Whereas the women faces double punishment oncd being forced second time being forced to marry a rapist. How can she marry a person who violated her?

    Acchu Mangalore ,so simple as you say it is not.First accused one wouldnt rape her if he wanted to marry her.First of all girl is minor .No possibility of marry the girl He will never marry.Let him pay for the baby.Since girl is minor,case to be filed o him ,no possibility of abortion.Simply rape and let her leave her to her destiny ?No Go.Are we in monkey land?He has to bear consequences.
