Udupi, Sep 20: Speaking in the Mayor, deputy mayor convention that is being held in Gujarat, prime minister Narendra Modi said, “The citizens of Udupi city had given an opportunity for the local administration led by Jan Sangh. Because Jan Sangh gave good administration, BJP is reaching a top place through its continuous activities. This shows the faith the city dwellers have on BJP.”

Mayor and deputy mayors from all over India belonging to BJP were present in the meeting.

    Since from 1968, (Except 5yrd from (2013-2018) Jana sangha/ BJP is ruling udupi city muncipality. Almost from last 50 years, bjp is ruling udupi municipality. Udupi is the 1st municipality in south india led by BJP, then it was the puttur city municipality and later it's an history. We cannot forget the contribution of selfless leaders in those days by Dr vs acharya, BR Shetty, karamballi sanjeev shetty, gujjadi prabhakara nayak, sharadha sudhakar shetty, the then bjp udupi president chittaranjan hegde, k uday kumar shetty etc etc and hundreds of karyakartas, because of their dedication & selfless contribution, even today BJP is the strongest political party in udupi

    during the late 1960s Udupi and Delhi were the only 2 cities ruled by the Jan Sangh.
