Udupi, Sep 15: A 16-year-old minor boy was driving the goods lorry which hit the father and son duo in Uchilla resulting in the death of both of them.

On September 14 morning, an unidentified vehicle had hit Prabhakar and his son Samarth when they were standing on the side of the NH-66. The vehicle and the driver had escaped after the accident.

Padubidri police seized the goods lorry and took its driver into custody from Ganjimutt in DK district based on CCTV footage obtained by the police.

During the investigation, Shekar, driver of the lorry revealed that a 16-year-old boy working as a cleaner in the lorry was driving the vehicle at the time of accident. The boy had a fantasy to drive a lorry and had done so on earlier occasions.

Very sad for the family may their souls rest in peace.. Minor driving a goods lorry after 2014. The driver will be allowed to contest on a BJP ticket and the minor will get after a few years. Even the owner should be arrested and punished. Traffic rules touched rock bottom after 2014. Is this the PM's Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas?

does not surprise me at all..i am sure if the cops stand on highway and check..at least 90 percent of the trucks are driven by underage and fake licence holders...but in third world corrupted countries these things are common..i spoke to a guy who brought scooter laden truck from haryana..he is saying he has licence but he is still 16 and he learnt driving from his father, uncle etc..horrific and pathetic state of our country..winston churchill's words have proven that Indians are more corrupt when they rule themselves

Boy should never get the license lifetime. Driver's license to be canceled. Owner to pay full compensation to the deceased family due to hired 16yrs boy as cleaner and cancel the truck license.

Whats going here ?I am not so sure this story is true.Shekar must have driven the lorry and giving minor boys name to escape the arrest and jail.Ask the boy again.Horrible How can a boy have the lorry?Without knowledge of parents?Even when boy had driven ,some punishment must be there .Only in remand home ?Two lives are lost.Family is disturbed.Thorough investigation must be done.

Minors can do anything in this country & walk freely. Minor tag should be removed once attained puberty. All above 12 years should be considered majors & should give capital punishment. No need to think too much about such criminals, country has enough population to sustain. Punishment should also be given to Truck driver, Owner for employing a so called minor & killing two people. All of them are responsible for the two deaths. Suitable compensation should be given to the deceased family by collecting the amount from the Truck Owner, Driver & also from the family of so called killer minor driver.
