Jan 31: Dakshina Kannada records 33 new corona cases, Udupi nine

Mangaluru/Udupi, Jan 31: Dakshina Kannada on Sunday January 31 recorded 33 new cases of novel coronavirus, while Udupi reported nine fresh cases.

As per the state health bulletin, the total number of positive cases in the district stands at 33,788, out of which only 289 are currently active.

As many as 33 patients were discharged from hospitals on Sunday, taking the total number of recoveries to 32,760.

The total number of deaths so far in the district is 739, which includes two non-COVID deaths.

Though the cases are on a decline, the district administration has urged people to continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.


Udupi

As per the district health bulletin, as many as 3,35,376 samples have been tested so far, out of which 3,12,048 have turned out to be negative.

Nine new cases were reported on Sunday, taking the total number of positive cases to 23,328, out of which only 44 are currently active.

Eight patients were discharged from hospitals on Sunday, taking the total number of recoveries to 23,095.

Out of nine new patients, eight are in home isolation while one is in designated COVID hospital.

Among the nine, 7 are asymptomatic.

While Udupi reported three of the nine cases, Kundapur recorded four and Karkala two.

The district has reported 189 deaths due to coronavirus so far.
