Puttur: One dead, four of family injured in accident, cop stops to rescue

Puttur, Jan 24: A young man died on the spot and four others sustained serious injuries in a ghastly accident between a Ritz car and a Mahindra Bolero on Uppinangady-Subramanya state highway here on Sunday January 24.

The deceased has been identified as Naveen Martis, a resident of Hosmath.

The Ritz car was plying from Uppinangady towards Hosmath in Subramanya when it collided head-on with the Bolero on a curve at Padavu near Balya.

At the time of the accident, Kadaba police inspector Umesh Uppalike was passing by the same route and came upon the accident spot. He rushed the injured passengers to a nearby hospital. While three persons were shifted by 108 ambulance, one was taken to hospital in the inspector's vehicle.

Naveen's parents Nicholas Martis, mother Cecilia Lasrado, sister Sushma Lasrado and Naveen's wife who were in the car sustained serious injuries. They have been admitted to hospital.

Kadaba police have registered a case.

    People should not be hurried to reach the destination which will not run away from life but you should focus on what you are doing ! Car is lifeless machine which controlled by the human being ! people never learnt the lesson from the life. The roads are constructed in a unscientific manner curves and turns and the no notice of Speed to be in that particular road to follow !
