Additional law, parliamentary affairs for Bommai, Sudhakar loses Med Education, Fisheries to Angara

Bengaluru, Jan 21: Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, who expanded his cabinet on January 13, has finally allocated portfolios to the ministers on Thursday and in the process has reshuffled ministries of some of the ministers.

Among the changes in portfolios is the divesting of Law and Parliamentary Affairs portfolio from J C Madhuswamy, who has been now entrusted with Medical Education along with Kannada and Culture Department.

The Chief Minister’s trusted lieutenant and the Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai has been given additional charge of the Law and Parliamentary Affairs. Dr K Sudhakar, who handled both the Health and Family Welfare and Medical Education, has now been stripped of the latter.

Among the new entrants, coastal Dakshina Kannada man Angara has been put in charge of the Fisheries, Ports and Inland Transport portfolio that was handled by Udupi’s Kota Srinivasa Poojary along with Muzrai Department. However, Poojary has been given additional charge of the Backward Classes portfolio.

The Chief Minister has retained Finance, Bengaluru Development, Energy, Intelligence, Planning and Infrastructure Department besides all the unallocated portfolios.

The Food and Civil Supplies Department handled by S Gopalaiah has now been entrusted to Umesh V Katti with Gopalaiah put in charge of Horticulture and Sugarcane Department.

The Forest portfolio held by C C Patil has been given to Small Scale Industries and Information and Publicity with newcomer Aravind Limbavalli getting Forest and Murugesh Nirani, who had handled Large and Medium Industries Department that is presently with former Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar, has been put in charge of the relatively low profile Minor Industries Department.

    Yediyurappa does not work - only visits temples & Delhi and does pujas; still retains so many portfolios. Shame.

    Mr. Halady Srinivas Shetty should have given ministers portfolio who works sincerely to development.
