Jan 8: Dakshina Kannada reports 62 fresh corona cases; Udupi records 18

Mangaluru/Udupi, Jan 8: As per the Dakshina Kannada health bulletin the district reported 62 fresh coronavirus cases on Friday raising the tally to 33,179. Out of these, 449 cases are currently active.

A total of 5,17,261 samples have been tested. Out of which 4,84,082 are negative.

As many as 38 people were discharged on Friday, taking the total number of recoveries to 31,998.

A total of 732 deaths have occurred so far.

Over 21,434 mask violations were reported in the Dakshina Kannada district and Rs 22,75,870 in fines have been collected by the authorities.

Udupi

The coronavirus tally in the district has risen to 23,169, including 18 fresh cases on Friday. Out of these, 94 cases are currently active.

Over 3,05,148 samples have been tested so far, of which 2,81,979 have turned out negative.

As many as 15 patients were discharged on Friday. The total number of recoveries has climbed to 22,886.

A total of 189 deaths have occurred so far.

    The uptick in cases in DK is due to recent new year celebrations around 10 days back .The govt should'nt have budged in front of the liquor lobby.
