Mangaluru/Udupi, Jan 8: The coronavirus vaccination dry run began in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi on Friday January 8. A practice session, in which a sample number of beneficiaries will go through a mock immunisation process is known as a dry run.
The dry run of corona vaccine was conducted at Wenlock’s Ayush hospital.
Addressing the gathering, deputy commissioner (DC) Dr K V Rajendra said, “The dry run of corona vaccine will clear confusion among public about the same. In the first phase, corona vaccine will be administered to the corona warriors, while in the second and third phase, it will be a challenge which we need to focus on.

“Patients’ information needs to be collected on whether the patient has diabetes or any other diseases while providing corona vaccine in the first phase. The officials of Women and Child Welfare department should be present at the venue where vaccine is provided. In order to control corona, everyone should follow the protocols such as wearing masks.
DC Dr K V Rajendra ordered the officials to take action against those who do not wear masks in public places and shopkeepers. He also directed the officials to cancel the license of the shops who do not follow Covid protocols.
District health officer Dr Ramachandra Bayari was also present.

As per the guidelines of the central government, Udupi district DC G Jagadeesha launched a Covid vaccination dry run on Friday at Koosamma Shambhu Shetty Haji Abdulla Memorial Mother and Child government hospital here.
The programme was organized by district administration, zilla panchayat Udupi and district Health and Family Welfare department.
DC G Jagadeesha said, “We will do this task as strict as the recent election process. The Health department officials should work hard in order to prevent the spread of Covid. This is another part of it. Everything has been set up. There are eight vaccination centres in the district. We are preparing ourselves in this trial and error method. We will work seriously to reach our target. There will be four vaccination officers in the center and a security guard.
“Do not believe rumours in the social media about Covid vaccine. All facilities have been provided at every vaccination center,” he said.
DHO Dr Sudhir Chandra said, “There are eight vaccination centres out of which six are government and two private. There are 19,568 beneficiaries at 852 hospitals. We have provided training to 260 staff. All beneficiaries are registered on the Covid portal. Covid vaccination set up is done and the required medical apparatus have been provided. A rapid response team is also ready in case of emergency at taluk and district level.”
Dr Madhusudhan Nayak, district surgeon, Dr Prashanth Bhat, district Covid nodal officer, Dr Rama, Covid vaccination officer and others were present.
