Mangaluru, Dec 5: Deputy commissioner (DC) Dr K V Rajendra has ordered the deputy environment officer of Karnataka State Pollution Control Board, Mangaluru, to conduct investigation with regards to the fish meal factories’ pollution causing health hazards and take necessary action as per rules and send a report about the action taken within two weeks to his office as well as send information to the applicants.
The complaint petition was given by the residents of Sasihitlu, Aggidakaliya, Pavanje, Chelyaru, Mukka and Haleangadi that stench is emanating from the fish meal factories in the surroundings making the residents lives miserable.

It may be recalled, Daijiworld had published about the issue where three factories Mukka Fish Meal and Seafood Industries Pvt Ltd, BAWA Fishmeal Industries and Bawa HKA and Sons are causing pollution and leading to health hazards.
The locals of Mukka, Sasihitlu and Mithrapatna are agitated with the three fish oil factories located at the surroundings of Sashihitlu which is causing health hazards and also air, sound and water pollution. Locals alleged that the three factories operating are the reason behind health issues faced by the people in the vicinity.
Since several years, locals have been raising voice to let the people's representatives, police, pollution control board and concerned authorities know and to take action against the three factories but all efforts went in vain with no action. Srinivas Institute, Pavanje temple also complained against these factories, while locals had appealed to the factory authorities.
