Bengaluru: Congress holds MLA responsible for abortion - seeks Rs 5 crore compensation

Bengaluru, Dec 2: Karnataka Pradesh Mahila Congress has held BJP MLA Siddu Savadi responsible for the abortion of Chandni Naik, municipal councillor of Mahalingapura municipality in Bagalkot. It has asked the police to initiate legal action against Savadi and his supporters and see that the affected lady gets compensation of five crore rupees.

A delegation of Karnataka Pradesh Mahila Congress led ny its president, Dr B Pushpa Amarnath, met state director general of polcie, Praveen Sood and president of Karnataka State Women's Commission, and handed over petitions. They were accompanied by MLAs Roopa Shashidhar and Soumya Reddy, as well as zilla panchayat member Veena Kashappanavar.

It is said that Savadi had manhandled the councillor and accused her of accepting money to vote for the Congress. The Congress plans to hold a protest to express resentment at the behaviour of MLA Siddu, whom it holds repsonsible for the councillor's abortion. A preparatory meeting for the protest was held under the presidentship of former minister Umashree on Tuesday at Mahalingapura. It is said that KPCC president D K Shivakumar and leader of the opposition Siddaramaiah will take part in the protest.

    Wow! These people are serious by pinning blame for abortion on an unrelated action; abortion by definition is a conscious act of a woman, unlike miscarriage.
