Udupi: Sri Krishna Math's issues clarification over ‘No Kannada’ display board

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (JD)

Udupi, Dec 1: Sri Krishna Math has issued a clarification after Kannada Sahitya Parishad condemned the act of the Math of not including Kannada on their newly installed name boards.

In a press statement Neelavar Surendra Adiga, president of Kannada Sahitya Parishad had said, "Kannada Sahitya Parishad condemns the act of not including Kannada in the new name boards of the Math. Kannada should be the first priority in Karnataka. As a religious institution, it should not make any differences between languages. This is a clear violation of government law. We will submit a memorandum to the district administration. It is not right to replace Kannada with Tulu on the name boards.”

The new name boards were installed as part of the renovation work at Sri Krishna Math. The board contained names in Tulu and Sanskrit language scripts.

Sri Krishna Math issued a press statement and a clarification note which said, "The name boards were changed as part of the renovation process. Paryaya seer wanted the new boards to be carved in wood. As the Lakshadeepa festival arrived and the Kannada script board was not ready, we installed the board having written the name in Tulu and Sanskrit languages. The board in Kannada script is being prepared and will be installed soon. The scriptures in the Math are in Tulu script so the name was also written in Tulu script," the statement said.

this mutt should concentrate to how to clear the massive loan raised by Shiroor mutt, rather than getting into caste, language and party politics....

the shiroor mutt episode in terms of mismanagement and swamiji's conduct and subsequent unnatural expiry should be avoided in future...

People of Mangalore should remember till date we are using kannada script here for administrative purposes and that language should also be equal importance along with the tulu script. Also mangaloreans please dont waste your time on unnecessary things. Thats the reason our city is not developing. Regarding script boards at Udupi Mutt i feel that they should have put all the languages like kannada, english, tulu and sanskrit script boards together when it was fully ready. In that case there would no issue at all.

Tulu Nadu should be declared a separate state. Kannada is an imposition on Tulu Nadu. Do kannadigas put Tulu boards? Tulu should become the official language in Tulunadu and kannad should be rejected. We are tuluvas and not kannadigas to use kannad.

As on this day we are Kannadigas because we are part of Karnataka. The day Tulunadu is created, then let's think of having Tulu as the official language. Right now though in Karnataka, Kannada is sovereign and supreme because it's the official language of our State. Let's first make efforts to include Tulu in the 8th Schedule of the Constitution so that Tulu attains official language status.

Don't fall in the net of the "divide and rule" policy of khangress. Here not only tulvas but other ppl also reside. If you want to study "tulu" nobody objects. What about ur children they study in english medium or tulu medium?
