Mangaluru: Apostolic Carmel's presence of 150 years in India celebrated by St Agnes PU College

Mangaluru, Dec 1: On the occasion of the sesquicentennial jubilee of the Apostolic Carmel congregation presence in India, ‘Agnosphere’- the alumni association of St Agnes PU College organised a virtual celebration on Monday November 30.

The programme began with a visual prayer song dedicated to Mother Veronica- the foundress of the Apostolic Carmel Congregation. Sr Norine D’Souza AC, the principal welcomed the viewers. Dr Sr Lydia AC, joint secretary of St Agnes Institutions in her address urged the alumnae to take a bold step of empowering a needy child to grow intellectually, academically, economically and spiritually- as a mark of celebration of the sesquicentennial year.

The alumni, Sameeksha, Yoshitha, Rachana (2015 batch) and Shravya (2016 batch) presented a dance drama depicting the education and growth of the girl child.



Radhakrishna Rai, parent of Ananya (alumni -2017 batch), thanked the institution for imparting knowledge and wisdom to the girl children and helping them bloom into responsible individuals.

Lovina Aranha, lecturer in the department of Commerce shared her vivid experiences at St Agnes Institutions both as a student as well as a teacher.

Sr Janet Sequeira, the vice-principal and Pramila D’Souza presented a PowerPoint presentation on the life of Mother Veronica, the foundress of The Apostolic Carmel, her contributions and the development of the Apostolic Carmel Congregation.

On the occasion, Sherol Menissa Lobo, student of II HEPP shared her experience as a student of this great institution. She thanked the college for providing umpteen opportunities for the holistic development of the student.

Sherlita and team (2019 batch) rendered a joyous and mellifluous song, celebrating 100 years of St Agnes Institutions.

Though the alumni are miles apart, 'Agnosphere', the alumni association was successful in connecting all the Agnesians and putting up a wonderful virtual programme that was well appreciated by the management and the viewers across the globe.

Caldrida Pearl D'Souza (2017 batch) compered the programme as well as thanked everyone who worked hand in hand for the success of the programme.
