Mangaluru: Huge peepal, fig trees uprooted near Wenlock hospital, relocated

Mangaluru, Nov 30: A huge peepal and a fig tree was uprooted near Wenlock hospital on Sunday November 29 and replanted at another spot near the hospital premises.

It is said that for the sake of construction of a new multi-specialty department building, the trees had to be uprooted and replanted.

There were four such trees which had to be uprooted. Two trees were shifted on Sunday while other two will be shifted soon.

The shifting operation started in the morning on Sunday. It took nearly 16 hours for the task to be completed.

Environmentalist Jeeth Milan Roche and Smart City project officials were present during the shifting operation.

    Do they have a foolproof, established and guaranteed process for shiting trees successfully or this is just for publicity in the media??? Who will make sure the relocated tree will survive and continue to grow?

    Peepal/fig tree has got very good life even after uprooted if we don't replant it it shows signs of hope and started sprouts
    Good Idea
    Near kundapura they uprooted and discarded many
    Hope hereafter they will use some brain to protect the environment
