Mangaluru, Nov 21: Deputy commissioner (DC) of Dakshina Kannada district, Dr K V Rajendra, stated that 80 temporary licenses have been issued for clearing 13 sand blocks that have been hindering the movement of fishing boats in the coastal regulatory zone of the district.

He said that the boats being used for clearing the sand blocks and also the vehicles which transport sand have to compulsorily fix GPS from the concerned mentioned by Karnataka State Electronics Development Corporation Ltd and furnish documents about having fixed the GPS to the office of the deputy director of mines and geology.

"Vehicles transporting sand should be registered in 'Sand Bazar App' without fail. Owners of vehicles willing to transport sand and temporary licence holders have to get in touch with the office of the deputy director for mines and geology at Mallikatte here and submit duly filled in applications in prescribed forms," he clarified.

'Sand Bazar App' used for sand supply was unveiled at the office of the deputy commissioner here on Friday. Customers and the general public can get their sand requirement through this app.
