Mangaluru, Nov 18: MLA U T Khader on Wednesday November 18 said that the Karnataka Urban Water Supply and Drainage Board (KUWSDB) has given administrative approval of Rs 280 crore for providing and laying water distribution feeder mains to 25 villages of Mangaluru constituency from 72 MLD capacity water treatment plant at Kairangala.

Speaking at the press meet in the Circuit House, Khader said, "Already 50% of the (first phase) comprehensive drinking water project has been completed. This project is being implemented with a far vision. Once this project is materialised, it will meet the demand of water for 30 years."

Khader also said that the project will also meet demand of water of four villages in Bantwal taluk, 21 villages of Mangaluru taluk, and totally 25 villages under Mangaluru constituency will benefit from the project.

He also expressed that the complete work of the first phase would be completed by October next year.

He also said that the government has released Rs 22 crore under Jagjivan Ram Mission and Rs 25.2 crore under Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department to provide water pipeline connections from overhead tanks.

Khader said that work of bridge-cum-barrage project planned across the Netravati from Adyar to Harekala has been started.

Taking a dig at BJP led-government in state, Khader said that people in the state are now clear who is doing appeasement politics. "BJP had announced a development corporation for Kadu Golla community ahead of Sira elections. Now BJP is trying to woo dominant communities ahead of the bypolls to Basavakalyan (Bidar) by approving the proposal for the formation of Maratha Development Authority.

Khader also challenged BJP state president Nalin Kumar Kateel and district in-charge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary to establish Development Authorities for Billava, Bunt, Kulal, Gatty, Kottary and Ganiga communities in the district. He also alleged that the BJP's vote bank politics is creating confusion and conflict among various communities in the state. Why is BJP forming authorities and boards ahead of polls? Khader questioned.

Stating that law and order has deteriorated and crime rates are increasing in the state, Khader said, “Police officers are being transferred. Instead of boosting the morale of police officers, they are transferred.”

"The district in-charge minister has failed to hold a single review meeting with officers of the police department. Either the MP or district in- minister should ask police officers to work sincerely or they should be replaced with sincere officers,” he said.

He also said that he will submit a proposal to the deputy commissioner to set up Covid-19 help desk to help Ayyappa devotees at Kotekar.

Ullal president of Municipal Chitrakala, vice president Ayub, Mangaluru taluk panchayat president Mohammed Monu, Congress leader Eshwar Ullal and others were present.
