Mangaluru: Airport maintenance will be joint for first three years

Mangaluru, Nov 1: Even though the name of the airport here has been changed into Adani Mangaluru International Airport, for the present, the staff of the airport have no reason to worry. Because, even though Adani Group has been given the responsibility to manage the airport for the next 50 years, the staff of the Airports Authority of India (AAI) which is under the government control, are not proposed to be displaced for the present.

As per the agreement entered into by Adani group and AAI, the airport will function under the joint management scheme for one year. The current staff will work alongside Adani employees. The staff will have to be here for three years. Later, they will slowly be transferred to other airports falling under the AAI. There is no proposal to abruptly dismiss anyone, an officer of the airport stated.

Mangaluru happens to be the first airport in India which has been given to Adani. The group does not have experience of running such facilities and therefore their staff will work along with the employees of the authority.

    We remember Modi flying in Adani's private jets during campaigning and now this is a way of repaying that debt.

    It's foolish on the part of Bhakts to trust a man who is selling the nation's property. Clearly, Modi has shown that he is incapable of administering the country as today it's evident in the RBI report which confirms that we have officially entered a recession.

    Actually privatisation of airport is necessary for development. Government cannot provide better facilities any time. Moreover karnataka government is slow considering the infrastructure development. The fund allocation is same for a major Tier 2 port city like Mangalore and other poor Tier-3 towns of karnataka. But again it all depends on how well Adani will manage and improve Mangalore international airport.

    Adani is given the contract only for running the airport. How can they be allowed to change the name of airport or put their logo along with name? They are only contractors to maintain the airport which is built using hard earned money of Indian citizen. This is height of support / favour from BJP government to a contractor. It is only an indication of more such favours to come.

    Airports are given to Those people who never managed any airport , forget about airport , Adani’s don’t have experience in handling a railway station .
    It’s like a fresher appointed directly as a GM of MNC.
