Shivamogga, Oct 29: The police here have arrested a gang of six persons and recovered 213.5 grams of gold ornaments worth Rs 9,31,050 from them. One of the members of the gang comes by flight to snatch away chains, revealed district superintendent of police K M Shantaraju.

Speaking at a press meet here on Wednesday October 28, he said that the gang which was involved with chain snatching incidents and robbery attempts has been arrested. He added that Faisal (25) from Meerut, Uttar Pradesh (UP), Salman (24), Ashish Kumar (36), Mehtab (35), Salman (22) and Mohammed Chand from Meerut who lives in Joseph Nagar here, have been arrested.

"During the questioning, we have come to know that Mohammed Chand, residing in the city, was extending help to the thefts and robberies of the gang. Out of the arrested people, one used to come from Uttar Pradesh by flight to Bengaluru and reach here by motor bike from there," he stated.

The six-member armed gang, which was lurking on Vidyanagar Mattur road here on September 16 was arrested by the police. A two-wheeler, two pistols, 12 live bullets and other lethal weapons were recovered from them, he revealed.
