Sullia, Oct 23: A person who bought flower for Rs 20 from a flower vendor here on Thursday October 22, tendered a currency note of Rs 200 face value. The vendor returned the change. In a few minutes, he grew suspicious about the genuineness of the note and showed it to a few auto rickshaw drivers, who confirmed that it was a fake currency note.
The flower merchant who was taken for a ride this time and lost Rs 200 was Murthy from Arkalgud, Hassan district. Going by this incident, the people may have to be extra careful before accepting currency notes of even the new series that had been circulated by the government recently
The people hope that the government and police department will be able to devise ways and means to stop the fake currency manufacturers on their tracks so that gullible citizens do not lose their hard-earned money.
