Mangaluru: ‘My target is to see D K Shivakumar as chief minister of Karnataka’ - Mithun Rai

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (ANK)

Mangaluru, Oct 21: District Youth Congress leader Mithun Rai joined for an exclusive interview in the Rough n Right programme on Daijiworld TV.

Speaking about the alleged derogatory comment made on the Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath, Mithun said, "The Uttar Pradesh rape victim was treated inhumanly. She even provided the names of the accused in her dying statement. However, the police wiped out the evidence. We will surely protest against this in the near future."

When asked where he and Congress was during Sowjanya rape case, Mithun Rai said, "We had protested in the Sowjanya rape case as well. BJP leaders raised issue about Sowjanya rape case and also about rape case in Kerala. But in both, the government was not involved directly and did not favour the accused. In Uttar Pradesh, the victim was harassed, raped, murdered and was not given treatment for over eight days. The BJP has entered into politics playing the Hindutva card. They won votes through this and came into power. Which Hindutva allows for the cremation to be carried out in the night and forbids the family from performing the rituals? Further, no rituals have been followed for the last rites. I have no faith in the CBI. The FIR in this case, was not filed for 14 days, and the officials manipulated the names of the accused and threatened the families. Even Congress leaders were arrested.”

On a question whether Mithun respects the law, since he carried protests without permission, the Congress leader said, "I did take permission to protest at the Congress office. It is upsetting that only D K Shivakumar was targeted by the police. There are many such BJP leaders who are guilty of scams. However, they escape scot-free as all these agencies are controlled by the BJP."

On the issue of how he would handle the cases filed against him for making derogatory comments on Yogi Adityanath, he said, "I have not said anything wrong. I raised my voice against the Uttar Pradesh chief minister but not against the Jogi community. The saffron attire is a holy attire. When you enter politics with that, the attire loses its importance. If Yogi Adityanath wears saffron attire and enters politics, then he should accept every criticism or else take political retirement and live in a Math.

"On social media channels, BJP representatives who wear the saffron shawl have abused my parents. It is totally wrong to drag families in politics," he said.

When asked what his next target was, Moodbidri or Mangaluru South, Mithun said, "My only target is to see D K Shivakumar as the chief minister (CM) of the state. I have examined several aspects following my defeat in the elections. I am working to strengthen from the booth level. None of the Congress leaders received more than 5 lac votes which reveal that people believe in us. Somewhere amidst the misinformation wave, we found ourselves getting stuck.

“We all have been victims of misinformation amid the Modi wave, I believe under the Modi wave, there is also a misinformation wave,” he said.

When asked about the ‘Road Challenge’ initiative, Rai said, "I am not prepared to listen to people abuse the state of roads in our district. The roads are in a pitiful condition filled with potholes that have caused accidents and thereby claimed several lives. Further, I am not sure if the toll gate at BC road is a toll gate or a gambling den."

the people of Karnataka would welcome Shiv Kumar as the future CM. We had enough of the resort politics and vendeta politics of using the central agencies to Harass and Intimidate political opponents instead of fighting them politically with peoples issues and development.

The country is painfully aware of how central agencies are being misused to target Opposition leaders and parties. This is the Ugly face of Modi's Maan Ki Baat and his innocent pretentions behind TV cameras in his repeated address to the nation.

Mithun has played the wrong card right from the beginning. He is already giving wrong signals making people uncomfortable. Many in Congress do not want to be associated with DKS due to the numerous scams and controversies he carries as baggage. In the current scenario this is not going to work. Sorry to say.

Come on Mithunda ,'' DKS for CM. ' Are you serious???'. This statement was not called for. Even if you had said ' ''My target is to see myself as chief minister of Karnataka'' would have been accepted as it sounds like a valid dream. Controversies and scams do not garner votes or make an individual popular. Irrespective of party affiliation I say, the wealth and properties that DKS amassed WORLDWIDE just being a 'social worker'' is really suspicious. With all due respect, you cannot play the victim card every time.

Issues like "Road Challenge" is a genuine matter which they should pursue. Taking up issues like rape case in UP is total disaster for them. It was not necessary.
If you want to strengthen your party from the booth level, take up issues related to that level. There are many issues such as smart city projects, garbage management, drinking water, corruption at MCC etc.
Instead of aiming to make DK the next CM, you should think of how to win a corporate election for yourself.

I was a booth level Cong worker in 2018 and 2019 elections. The common question that confronted us during house visits was 'What are your achievements'? Mind you , nobody had the answer. So would you be saying that you lashed at the UP CM for Harthas rape ,sitting here in Mlore, as your achievement? Nobody is gonna buy that xhit. They will ask you why are you silent on Rajasthan and Kerala rapes ?? Gone are those days when people would vote on 'who he is?' . Today it is 'what has he done?' Be pragmatic in your approach.

So until 2018 there was nothing in India.... you were in the forest... hunting for food and covering yourself in the banana leaves.... What was India when British left.... for most no roof, no education, no moolas for expenditure and most importantly Nehru had to beg for food to the UN and other nations to feed his country.... what you see today is the achievement of Congress.... if one doesn't understand these basics then one should not be working for a party....

Politics and religion cannot be separated as of now. Need a few generation to extinct (the end).
Need a state of mind, with some common sense and a good society away from all these issues what the current world is facing. We can give many example how to administrate (ruling becomes dictatorship, which is happening now). There are many countries where people don't consider religion when the administrate the country.
Whether India will Change or not for now. But I believe it will change ones this generation will go off from this world.

Taking DKS name or holding darna for few incidents will not bring you power.

First you build your cadre or workers at booth level and then think of winning election.

Congress has lost its cadre for a very long time. Few leaders talking now and then will not help.

Mithun Sir, Wake up. There is no 'mis information wave'. As long as Yourself, Ramanatha Rai, Ivan Dsouza, Siddu, DKS, Moidueen Bava, Janardhana Poojari JR Lobo etc are face of the Cong leaders for the coming elections , then sorry to say, you will not win. I can give it to you in writing. It will be just paying into the BJP hands. The need for the hour is a new avtar in Cong with new faces. Not a family tie up, Controverisal candidates . You have to also seriously introspect the flow of traditional hardcore Cong supporters, the minorities moving for greener pastures into JDS or even BJP minority morcha for that matter.
