Bengaluru: Four arrested in Manish Shetty murder case, two shot after assault bid on cops

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (MS)

Bengaluru, Oct 18: Police on Saturday October 17 arrested four accused, including two from Dakshina Kannada district, in connection with the murder of Manish Shetty, a pub owner who was killed in the city recently.

The arrested have been identified as Shashikiran alias Munna (45), Nitya (29), both residents of Somwarpet, Ganesh (39), a resident of Mangaluru, and Akshay (32), a resident of Bantwal.

The gang was hiding in a lodge in the city after committing the crime.

The accused confessed to the police that they had hidden four machetes, used in the murder of Manish Shetty, near Hosur Road of the city. Accordingly, the police took them to the spot to recover the weapons. During this time, Shashikiran and Akshay tried to assault the police personnel. Police shot both of them on their legs in self-defence.

Speaking to reporters here, deputy commissioner of police (central division), M N Anucheth said that the police had to open fire at Munna, mastermind of this murder, and Akshay, who had gone with the police to recover murder weapons.

He added that personal rivalry between Munna and the deceased Shetty seem to be motive behind this murder.

"During the course of investigation, the police team had taken Munna and Akshay to Barlane cemetery on Hosur Road to recover the machetes used for the offence. At around 6.30 pm, both the accused tried to assault the police team and our team opened fire on them in self defence," he explained.

It is said that the slain Manish Shetty had given financial assistance for the murder of Kishan Hegde, who was killed recently at Hiriadka in Udupi. In addition, it is also learnt that both Kishan Hegde and Manish Shetty had differences over financial and other matters. Kishan Hegde was the accomplice of underworld criminal Vicky Shetty. It is suspected that Vicky Shetty might also be involved in the murder of Manish, according to police sources.

Shashikiran, one of the accused, who is arrested by the police, is already accused in the double murder case that occurred under the limits of Ullal police station in 2000, assault case in Karkala, which occurred in 2002 and murder attempt in 1998 under Kadri police station limits.

Giving details about the arrest, M N Anuchet said, "Four people are arrested in connection with the murder of Manish Shetty. They will be produced in court and taken into custody. There is no clear information with regard to the involvement of the underworld in this murder as of now. Investigation is being done in all angles."

It may be recalled that four bike-borne assailants shot Manish Shetty, aged about 45 years, owner of the Duet bar, in front of his bar located on Rest House Park Road at around 9 pm on October 15. He was immediately shifted to Mallya hospital for treatment but the hospital declared him brought dead.

"First the gang opened a fire on Shetty, later, they hacked him to death using machete," said DCP Anuchet.

Many people have flourished by doing illegal business since 50 to 75 years, some  of them became social activists, some became robin hood, everyone try to set their empire as per the opportunity available during their time.
Some became close to the politicians / religious leaders (it applies to all religion) gave good donations to the charity & purchased the reputation in the market.

What are you saying is something similar to what gang did. Killing for rivalry!.
If there is loopholes or delay in the criminal justice system what is the right approach? To fix the system or destroy it by not following procedures at all ?

Do we going destroy the mansion if there is a leak in somewhere in the corners?
