Manish Shetty, wanted in several cases in Mangaluru, Udupi shot dead in Bengaluru

Bengaluru, Oct 16 (IANS): A 45-year-old pub owner – Manish Shetty - was shot dead late on Thursday night by rival gang members, the police said.

Shetty was reportedly a close associate of Morocco-based fugitive underworld don Bannanje Raja.

The police suspect that members of the Rashid Malabari gang might have carried out the attack, as this is their typical style of murdering rivals in the coastal region of Karnataka, where single barrel gun is often used by gang members to eliminate their rivals, unlike the Bengaluru underworld which often uses machete or sword as its main weapon to eliminate its rivals.

The police added that Shetty was also a rowdysheeter and was wanted in several cases of robbery and murder in Mangaluru and Udupi districts.

According to the police, the deceased Manish Shetty aka Sarvatham Shetty was the owner of Duet pub on RHP Road off Brigade Road in Bengaluru.

Shetty hailed from Koppa village in Chikkamagalurur district.

Speaking to reporters, Deputy Commissioner of Police (central division), M.N. Anucheth, said that at around 9 pm, an incident of shooting occurred in the Cubbon Park police station limits.

"Shetty, aged about 45 years, was shot at by unknown bike-borne assailants in front of his bar located on RHP Road," he said in a statement released to the media.

Shetty was shifted to the Mallya hospital for treatment but the hospital declared him brought dead.

Meanwhile, Bengaluru city Police Commissioner Kamal Panth, who visited the spot, told reporters that the preliminary investigation pointed at the Managluru rivalry connection. "We have definite clues, we will arrest the culprits soon," he said.

The entire Rest House Road in Blr, is now nothing but a den of criminals, noted politicians and prostitution! Under the influence of powerful politicians & real estate barons, the mafia and undesirable elements create so much disorder that the small by-lane of Brigade road, is now considered as Bengaluru’s Sicily! Very soon we may have daily gang-fights!!

With both Bannanje Raja and Ravi Pujari cooling their heels under 5-star comfort in a so-called prison, until after a few years, there is finally no evidence and they get freedom, the underworld is now a free-for all.

It is high time, the associates of notorious Rashid Malabari gang as well as other's remote controleld from Dubai, are booked and ruthlessly controlled by the Govt, before Bangalore upstages Mumbai, as the mafia capital of India

Any community/religion should not give special place / undue space in community / religious affairs to underworld / crime oriented personalities...

it will have bad influence on youngsters... they may think, if a person is involved in crime / underworld, despite that if he is getting lot of respect and acceptance from his community, young minds may think... why not...

unfortunately places of worship also contribute to this... they will accept / solicit / gobble up charity / donations from any body (underworld / smuggler/criminal does not matter) , on top of that they will picture him as "great devotee", "philanthropist", "patron of religion" etc. etc. etc.

Shetty's from coastal district are genetically intelligent and enterprising..., They are are very hardworking, shrewed, bold and beautiful/handsome.., I must say that the rise of the present ruling party in coastal district is to a great extent contributed by bunt community...,

In my view the BJP think tank recognized this and politically gained immensely..., unlike 100 year old grand old party...

It's sad to see an enterprising youngster is no more..., There may be a possibility of forces in Bengaluru working against Bunt community, to deny/decline them space in hotel restaurant business.. specially after the demise of Muttappa Rai..!!!

Though every community has bad elements, from quite a time, we are hearing bad news of Shetty community. Even, when a fugitive died in Bangalore, a paper reported "Shettys are everywhere, from Miss world to underworld". Hope, our people from every community of DK and Udupi will refrain from such activities and become a model to follow for others.
