Mangaluru Oct 15: A 20-year-old girl in a heartwarming gesture donated her beautiful hair with hope to bring a smile on the face of women affected by cancer on October 13, stating that she was inspired to do so because of one of her relatives.
Prashanthi Vaniyan the 20-year-old who hails from Delampady is the girl who donated her 14-inch long hair to cancer patients. She is a final year BSc student at St Philomena College in Darbe, Puttur. Prashanthi couriered her hair to the hair bank at Miracle Charitable Association in Thrissur.
"Every year I used to cut and throw one inch of my hair. This year for a change, instead of cutting an inch, I chopped 14 inches of my hair and donated it for cancer warriors. I feel proud of myself for donating my hair for cancer patients and I am glad to bring a smile on their face," she said.
"I was inspired by my relative Reshma Ramdas who had donated her hair in August to Miracle Charitable Association in Thrissur," Prashanthi added.
"My family and friends are supportive of my decision of donating the hair. In the beginning, they did not accept my decision of chopping hair. But after understanding my reason behind it, they appreciated it," she added.
