Bengaluru, Sep 13: Karnataka home minister Basavaraj Bommai on Sunday September 13 said that the intelligence agencies will be called into service in order to control drug menace in the state.

Speaking to reporters here, Bommai said, "Strict measures are being taken to control the drugs that get smuggled from other states. The police will be given instructions in this regard. It has been decided to use the services of the intelligence agencies also.

"Operation against drug network will be intensified further. We will strengthen the city crime branch (CCB). Decision will be taken to provide more staff and facility to CCB in the coming days," he added.

"There are some issues in implementing the NDPS Act. I will hold discussion with experts in this regard soon. Society should also be aware of the drug network. If I get any statement or information on drugs I will take it seriously," said the minister.

The minister's statement comes in the wake of the massive drug scandal involving Sandalwood celebrities that is making headlines. Also, in several other raids and arrests, police across the state are unearthing drug networks and confiscating drugs in large quantities.

As if Intelligence agencies under BJP govt are not providing any information or inputs to Bommaiji? He mean to say he is a clueless minister...? I bet he is shedding crocodile tears to protect his near ones in drugs case.

""There are some issues in implementing the NDPS Act."

Do you want a clause where if BJPians/Saffron organisations found involved in drugs to be left out without investigation?

Find the root cause. Which state is growing the drugs. Could it be coming from Afganistan
