Udupi: Senior writer Dr U P Upadhyaya passes away

Udupi, Jul 18: Dr Uliyar Padmanabha Upadhyaya (85) known as U P Upadhyaya the man behind Tulu Lexicon in six volumes, a senior author, thinker of Udupi passed away on the night of Friday July 17 due to a long-term illness.

He suffered from age related illness and underwent treatment at KMC Manipal here.

He resided in Uliyaragoli, Kaup.

He worked on six volumes of Tulu Lexicon brought out by the Rashtrakavi Govind Pai Research Institute as the monumental linguistic work of the Upadhyaya couple along with other experts in the field.

U P Upadhyaya and his wife Susheela have both contributed a lot to culture, folk, Kannada, Tulu literature field.
