Udupi: Yogish Poojary murder - Police arrest four accused

Udupi, Jul 8: Malpe Police arrested four accused for their alleged involvement in the murder of Yogish Poojary (26), a resident of Laxminagara in Tenkanidiyoor near here. Yogish was murdered at around 11.30 pm on Sunday, July 6 by a gang that arrived in a car and attacked him with lethal weapons.

Malpe police sprang into action as soon as they got the information about the murder and cracked the case and arrested four people late night on Tuesday July 7, including noted rowdy sheeter Sujith Pinto (37). The other arrested accused are Rohit Pinto (43), his elder brother of Sujith Pinto, Annu alias Pradeep (40) and Vinay (36).

Girish and Anup, two more accused in the case are absconding. Police have formed two teams to nab them.

The police also escorted the arrested accused to the spot of murder and conducted spot inspection.

The accused allegedly murdered Yogish in an inebriated state on the night of July 6 by stabbing him on his stomach and back repeatedly with knives and escaped from the spot.

Three teams under the leaderships of sub-inspectors of Malpe, Udupi city and city crime branch were formed to arrest the murderers. The accused were arrested from Kallianpur. The police also confiscated the car and knives that were used during the act. According to sources, the accused will be produced in the court on the evening of Wednesday, July 8.

A case is registered against the accused in Malpe police station under column 143, 147, 148, 302 and 149 of IPC.

    When murderer and rapist confess their crime why court is releasing them on bail and acquit them saying lack of evidence?
    Normally criminals will not leave any evidence and try to destroy or threaten all witnesses.

    Due to these type of horrific things happening in this world .Killings ,Rape and so many other activities like drugs ..God has tired of forgiving humans and sent this pandemic.But still we humans not trying to repent .So sure in future we will face more anger from God and destroy of the world by disasters .

    BJP MLA kuldeep sengar who raped minor girl, killed her father at police station by beating & then killed her two aunts by hitting their vehicles enroute to court was not encountered instead given jail term.


    In this case the accused must be given strictest punishment as per law. Jesus Christ never taught violence.

    when the whole world is grieving you guys are thinking of taking revenge .

    I used to tell always that catechism classes are required for adults & parents and not for the children as they do not sin and they are innocent.

    We again Failed in recognizing the troubled / bitter soul among us and correcting them on time. Someone need to take moral responsibility

    Encounter these rowdies at the crime spot without any investigation. These people are harmful to the society. Tax payer money is precious during this Pandemic, stop looking after them & providing security & medical checkups to these bad elements.
    Finish the job once for all like Hyderbad encounter.
