Mangaluru: Pathologist of Covid hospital tests positive for coronavirus

Mangaluru, Jul 2: The pathologist of the Covid testing lab in the city tested positive for coronavirus on Thursday July 2.

The person is working in the laboratory of the Wenlock Covid hospital.

The death toll in the district is 18 including one on Thusrday. Three lives were lost to the deadly virus on Wednesday.

Until Wednesday, as per the district health bulletin, a total of 14,137 samples had been sent for tests till date, out of which 13,040 have turned out negative, and 833 positive, including 10 persons from other districts. Out of these, 372 are currently active. As many as 444 persons have recovered and been discharged.

    "The US is buying nearly all the next three months' projected production of Covid-19 treatment remdesivir from US manufacturer Gilead.

    The US health department announced on Tuesday it had agreed to buy 500,000 doses for use in American hospitals.

    Tests suggest remdesivir cuts recovery times, though it is not yet clear if it improves survival rates.

    Gilead did sign a licensing deal in May for production outside the US but it is still in its early stages.

    "President Trump has struck an amazing deal to ensure Americans have access to the first authorised therapeutic for Covid-19," Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar said in a statement.

    A course of treatment in the US will cost $2,340 (£1,900).".........

    And the same Trump threatened us for supplying "hydroxychloroquine" on immediate basis ??? What a crook???

    IMHO, since this virus is literally "airborne" nobody who is exposed to the outside world (unless he lived in a very remote place) is NOT GOING TO SPARE ANYONE! ONLY THOSE WITH COMORBIDITIES WILL PERISH; OTHERS WILL OVERCOME IT!
    WHATEVER PRECAUTIONS YOU TAKE (DON'T MEAN PRECAUTIONS NOT BE TAKEN), IT WILL ATTACK MOST OF THE POPULATION ESPECIALLY IN AN OVERPOPULATED & POOR COUNTRY LIKE OURS!

    ONLY SAVING GRACE IS "HERD IMMUNITY", WHICH CAN DEFEAT THIS VIRUS ONLY AFTER 75-80% OF THE POPULATION IS INFECTED!

    TILL THEN ONLY SOLUTION IS SPRUCING UP YOUR IMMUNITY! GETTING ADMITTED TO DINGY HOSPITALS CAN MAKE YOU MORE SUSCEPTIBLE TO CROSS INFECTIONS, UNWARRANTED TREATMENT & DEATH!

    ASYMPTOMATIC & MILDLY SYMPTOMATIC VICTIMS SHOULD NEVER BE ADMITTED UNNECESSARILY TO HOSPITALS, BUT GIVEN HOME QUARANTINE WITH SYMPTOMATIC MEDICATIONS!

    The pathalogist is the important person when it comes to covid testing.. these warriors should be having the best PPE given to them. They are at high risk and so they need to be protected the best.
    Not sure how he got the virus.
    Things should step up in the wenlock hospital.

    People outside should behave responsibly and reduce the spread..
    It is everyone's duty.

    We need another lockdown...

    As a pathologist he would have taken all precautions but still he tested positive.So we should now understand that the virus is here to stay and will infect at least 60 -80 % of the population.Any measures like lockdown, isolation etc will only delay the inevitable.Also the mortality is less than TB or malaria which are treatable.So now we should stop counting the incidence of positive cases and concentrate on preventing deaths which are caused by concomitant illnesses which are mostly treatable.The fear about corona should go away, as corona won't go away !! (in the near future.)Be Happy Be Healthy.

    Hydroxychloroquine and Chloroquine are metabolized into desethylychloroquine which is the active molecule that works.It cannot be taken by those who have cardiac and neurological problems and those who have retinopathy.It is effective as a prophylactic (preventive) and if taken in the onset of the disease,also it has to be taken after consulting a doctor.Has to be taken after a full meal. The results in Corona are not proven in large double blind clinical trials but in small trials in India it has worked, results from abroad have for some reason have shown side effects,may be because of higher dose.
