Puttur: Dr A P Monteiro’s new book ‘Shibiradaatagalu’ released at St Philomena College

Puttur, Jul 1: Prof Leo Noronha, principal of St Philomena College (SPC), Puttur, released a new book ‘Shibiradaatagalu’ written by Fr Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro at a simple ceremony amidst pandemic COVID-19. The function was held at the PG Seminar Hall of St Philomena College, Puttur.

The book is a compilation of the numerous activities like games, quizzes, brainstorming activities for students etc. It has been jointly published by ICYM, Mangalore diocese, and ATC Publishers, Bengaluru.

In his presidential speech for the book release ceremony, Prof Noronha appreciated the author for using the lockdown period for fruitful and constructive work. He wished that, the new book would reach to the mass, especially youth and it will serve them energy boosting activities in a busy routine life. He highlighted the efforts of the author in bringing creative activities together in the book.

Dr A P Radhakrishna, coordinator of IQAC of the college graced the occasion as chief guest for the ceremony. He urged young minds to explore new books and asked them to come out of the pandemic imposed depression. He appreciated the versatility of the author in bringing out this book for entertainment though being himself a spiritual person and a theoretical physicist.

Fr Dr A P Monteiro presented a brief overview of the content of the book. He thanked Fr Ronald D’Souza, director of ICYM, for publishing the book and for his encouragement in drafting the book. He also thanked the ATC Publishers and others who have contributed in the progress of the book.

The book contains party-games which are widely used for ice breaking in families, youth gatherings, social groups etc. This book is a collection of games which are popular, traditional, some are recreated, improvised and some are new innovative creations using mobile. The book has been organized in 17 chapters with more than 500 activities like outdoor-indoor games, circle games, musical games, guessing, thinking and writing games. All these activities or games are re-written in a uniform format. Though the book is aimed at the youth, it suits well for people of all ages.

Fr Dr A P Monteiro, at present is serving as campus director of St Philomena College, Puttur, and he is popularly known as ‘Quiz Priest’ among the Christians of Mangaluru. Till now, he has authored seven Bible quiz books in three languages (Konkani, Kannada and English) and has also authored various books in Kannada, Konkani and English languages.
