NDRF personal tests positive after returning from WB


Bhubaneswar, June 6 (IANS): A person from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has tested positive for Covid-19 in Odisha, after returning from West Bengal, official sources said on Saturday.

The person was a part of the team which went to West Bengal to carry out restoration work following the devastation caused by cyclone Amphan.

The NDRF has directed testing of all the personnel who were deployed in the neighbouring state, the official said.

All the team members have been quarantined on the NDRF campus at Mundali Battalion in Cuttack.

About 500 personnel of the Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) and Odisha Fire Service (OFS) had also gone to West Bengal for the restoration work.

Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Pradeep Jena informed that all the men are under mandatory quarantine for 14 days.
