B'luru: ‘50% of Indian population could have coronavirus infection by December’ – Nimhans head

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, May 28: Senior professor and head of the department of neurovirology at National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (Nimhans) Dr V Ravi, has predicted that about 50 per cent of people in India will suffer from coronavirus infection by December this year.

Dr Ravi said he has based this estimate on the basis of the increasing number of infected people with each day. "Mainly, the infection is spreading fast after relaxation in lockdown. In the coming days, coronavirus may reach the community transmission stage," he said.

Dr Ravi predicted that 50 per cent of the population in India may become infected by December. But one good thing is that 90 per cent of the people will not be aware of their infection," he said.

The virologist said that only 5 to 10 per cent of patients are given oxygen through artificial means while 5 per cent people will need ventilator support. "In the next some days, lockdown 4 will end and the state government is advised to keep its medical infrastructure fully geared up to meet the challenge. Mainly intensive medical care and treatment preparations will be the need of the hour," he said.

"The central government had advised to set up coronavirus laboratories in every district as it expects cases to go up steeply. KIMS Hospital Bengaluru has got permission to conduct corona tests. The number of labs in the state has gone up to 60. The government has been extending all kinds of support, about which I am happy. My dream is to increase the number of labs in Karnataka to 75 by June 15," he narrated.

He observed that the death percentage in the state due to this disease is between 3 and 4 per cent. But this rate is six per cent in Gujarat, he pointed out. He said that people will have to wait till March next year to get coronavirus vaccine and therefore advised people to learn to live with coronavirus. He said that all kinds of precautions have to be taken. At the same time, he said that coronavirus is not as deadly as Ebola and SARS.

While it is always better to be cautious against Covid 19, any information which generates fear and panic in the minds of people should be avoided. As of today, globally no one is able to predict the virus spread , how it is going to behave in the next few months and what would be the ultimate numbers for India and other countries. In such a situation, persons at responsible position should avoid spreading this kind of negative news unless it is fully backed up by data. A casual statement like this can definitely do more harm than good to the community.
What is the basis for predicting that 50% of the population in India will be infected by corona by December 2020? Does he have full data to support this prediction and has this been verified /confirmed by the authorized agencies like WHO or Indian authorities who are dealing with health?

India, together with China, produces most of the world's vitamin D (cholecalciferol). Low vitamin D levels, such as 25OHD below 30ng/ml (75nmol/L) are associated with greater risk of severe symptoms and death in several research studies, including https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=3571484 and https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=3585561. 4000IU (0.0001 grams) a day for adults will generally insure 25OHD levels above 30ng/ml. This is a gram every 27 years. The ex-factory price is USD$2500 per kilogram, so at that rate 4000IU a day costs US$0.09 per year. It only needs to be taken every week or two, and is best taken with a meal containing fats.

Please supplement with vitamin D3 and get as much sunshine as you can. There's more information on COVID-19, vitamin D and our overly inflammatory immune systems due to lack of helminths (intestinal worms) at my website: http://aminotheory.com/cv19/ .

I don't agree with Dr.Ravi Sir.. After reaching the peak number of daily infections comes down.. For example Italy one of the worst effected countries had a peak of 7000 per day now it's 400.. Germany 6000/500 UK 6000/1500 France 6000/450 USA 35000/20000 among others.. Our peak may be a month away..

I totally agree with Dr Ravi, once the lockdown is lifted people start to meet each other and greet eachother. The present movement of people moving without mask , spitting, coughing etc is sufficient to spread the virus. The first 40 days people were inside their houses. The other day I saw a man seated on a public bus and is busy cleaning his nose with his fingers. Has the BMTC made hard and fast rules that each one seated in the bus should maintain hygiene. I have no doubt with the present conditions Dr Ravi is predicting the right figures. It will be 25% of the population for sure

Chinese has given mankind, a perfect gift " Covid19 virus " created in laboratories, or otherwise, has not been fully ascertained !! The current rising world tally is 5905415 infected and 362024 deaths.. India has 165799 infected and 4706 deaths.. Migrants local/NRI, have lost their livelihood, forced to relocate back to their roots, in a most inhumane circumstances...Therefore Dr. V. Ravi, presumptions is fairly true, that over 50% of Indians will certainly be infected with this deadly virus, by the end of 2020 !!! Vaccine is in a preliminary development stage, could take months, if not years before it is available worldwide... Frightening scenario !!!!

Good this doctor has predicted his opinion.
As it has been noted in many countries the infection rate is more than 10% of the population, if we take that example in India around 14 crores have contracted the infection, but good thing is most of them are asymptomatic.
As this model proves we don't need any toxic vaccines to get the immunity but herd immunity it will create & if more than 50% get the infection then it will be very near to reach that stage.
So a blessing in disguise for our nation.

How can this be a good thing? People with existing complications/co-morbidities will struggle to survive. But then, NIMHANS is famous for mental treatment. Good thing is the doctor who is predicting this ridiculous statistics can get taken good care of in his own hospital for free.

What told by Doctor is absolutely correct. It's called 'Herd Community'. If things go beyond some percentage of virus will be injected in all individuals. Our body started to fight with virus and adjust with new environment in society. As our body produce antibiotics (Roga Nirodhaka Shakti) chance of death rate will be less. Our body already adjusted with viruses on air/water like of Cholera, Polio, Small Pox, Plague, Measles, TB and many more due to already injected some percentage of all viruses after birth to certain age itself. As Corona Virus is new of this kind our body need some time to adjust with it. Death rate may be less around approx. 3 to 7%. It's due to difficult to manufacture 100 % accurare vaccine for corona upto now. We want to live with carona here after..and die with Carona. It's called Kaliyug.

When people started to think big and challenge God in all respects disaster started to take place. We started to fight on religions showing supremacy with one another. We forgotten totally how to live on this earth living behind poor dashed them to one corner. Kept deadly arsenals to destroy other's terrorities to become super power.

Sanjay Not to afraid. After some figures when unable to control it's must virus should inject in each and every person and made compulsory. It's called Herd Community. If everybody is having virus no question of once more entering once more. Everybody start to work thru there immunity system and fight individually. Now affected persons are less. They themselves cannot fight all alone due to there immunity system is kaamjor. There is one process I dont know exactly medical terms take out 50% virus from affected person and inject in healthy persons who sit at home and comment in the ratio of 5% each. God provided us Roga Nirodhak Shakti in our body. If we have cold...it long for a week..with our immunity system only get rid of it. Doctor's medicne is just for name sake. Only they give antibiotics whose immunity system is weak. Do animals have doctors nurses hospitals..?? While running to save oneself from wild life give birth. Right.. Sab kudrathi hai...do old people taken any medicenes are still strong and healthy.

Sanjay...No Doctor in the world or Government or Religious leaders will tell the truth for innocent like you. When child born government announce to inject tika vaccine upto certain age. As in India and asean and african countries due to pollution in air and water borne diseases are much. Not having cleanliness around. Chances are more fall into diseases like Cholera, Typhoid, Malaria, Measles, Polio, Plague (rodents are more) TB and many more. For that purpose are injected after birth itself some percentage of viruses in our body on some intervals. Our body start to work and try to fight diseases which entered. So automatically our body adjust to surroundings as we already have antibiotics to combat with the disease.

In western countries there surroundings are clean and pure not opt to go for vaccines. They try to more of depend upon frozen foods for there fake outlook. Due to non-availability of antibiotics in there body...unable to fight newly introduced disease by china so easily. For that reason fatality rate in western countries are high. In India childrens who living in slums are much healthier than western countries who all the time inside packed home having a/c. In some european countries do not have sun light continuously for days..deficiency of Vitamin D. Our's is blessed country.
