Bengaluru: 'Free Shramik trains for labourers up to May 31' - CM Yediyurappa

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (MS)

Bengaluru, May 22: The Karnataka government is going to bear the travelling expenses of migrant workers who want to return to their native place through Shramik trains up to May 31. This information was conveyed to the media by chief minister (CM) B S Yediyurappa.

Lac of migrant workers are stuck in various states due to the lockdown. In order to send these labourers to their native places, Shramik trains are being run since two weeks. But exorbitant fare is reportedly being collected from the labourers for this purpose.

People cutting across social strata urged the governments to send the migrant labourers to their native places free of cost. However, union and state governments did not think on this matter so far. This also created rage among the poorer section of the society.

The Karnataka government, however, has arrived at a decision now. Tweeting about the decision, CM Yediyurappa said, "The appeal of migrant labourers, who want to return to their native places, but cannot bear the expenses of travel, is considered seriously by the state government. We consider the migrant labourers who have come from far off places of our country as our own. It is my firm belief that we have to respond to their difficulties during this testing time.

"Accordingly, labourers, who are stuck in Karnataka and want to return to their native places through Shramik trains up to May 31 may do so. Their travelling expenses will be borne by the state government,” he said.

Yeddy is One-Man-Govt. He has ruled Karnataka for 5 months without cabinet, no ministers, no MPs, no MLAs and no speaker. He can sit in Karnataka and rule UP single handedly.
