Five Dubai returnees test coronavirus-positive in Udupi

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (SP)

Udupi, May 15: Out of those who arrived in the district from Dubai on May 12, five have tested positive for coronavirus infection.

Three men aged 31, 37 and 52 and two women aged 33 and 38 have tested positive.

Out of them, 49 belonging to Udupi district were quarantined in a hotel in the district. Their throat swabs were collected and sent for testing. Their reports were received today, as per which five have tested positive.

Udupi deputy commissioner said, “As many as 49 people came to Udupi on the Dubai-Mangaluru flight. Tests were conducted on all returnees. Those who are tested positive are shifted to Covid hospital. Regular health check-ups will be conducted of those who are in quarantine centres.”

As part of the effort to bring back Indians stuck in foreign countries because of coronavirus lockdown, 177 were airlifted to India on Tuesday from Dubai. They had arrived at Mangaluru international airport on Tuesday night.

Where do you want to send them???
There are 70%of expatriates who are positive for covid19 in the gulf counties and their own nationalities make only 30%. But still they never blamed, or ignored, but gave equal treatment to everyone. When your own people coming home, how can you be against them? This is their country too. One cannot oppose when they want to return to their native, when they are in a helpless situation. Just take precautions for your safety. But don't hurt the already wounded people

The primary reason for the massive explosion of Covid19 virus is due to transmission of infection, by passengers arriving from foreign destinations. Wonder why travelers are not tested, prior to boarding any flights ??? If found positive why are they not offloaded immediately and taken to a quarantine hospital ?? Today rail passengers arriving from Delhi to Bengaluru station, refused to get quarantined for 14 days..... They are shortly going to be repatriated back to Delhi !!!!

Shahen mangalore, what is the use of sanitizing the flights when inmates /passengers are positive ,sitting one next to another ,are main sources to spread infection.Naturally they sanitizing flights. It is compulsory to do so.They should have tested every passenger before boarding. Now it is there .They should now bear it and be happy that they are not going to spread infection to their home people.

Dear All, pls note that before they boarded the flight there were two types of testing was conducted in Dubai Airport both turned out to be negative so they allowed to travel. But the risk is there might be some passenger may be carrying virus but during testing it was pre-mature not detected.... So, this kind of risk is always there.... And now it's up to people to decide.... whether they can travel or not... and same puzzle for Dist Authorities too... whether they need to be allowed to land or not???

So, Best possible way is... pls go to quarantine for next 14 days & if required for 28 days... else they can pass on to elders at their own home or at their relatives home at their own risk

The demography and population of the country this lock-down measures is not going to be long term solution. The nation and the medical council has to come up with different approach. The Wuhan city in China has again reported new cases and the entire 1.1 million population is getting tested.

In India with lack of medical and infrastructure it won't be feasible option. If just five out of the 250 passengers have tested if take statistics it will be huge number still unreported. Among us many may have already contacted but have built some resistance.

Since vaccine is far reaching solution for this pandemic, unless we do not have new approach this will be another case of 'Spanish flu' awaiting for India.

It is true that those who are in Gulf are working to improve economy of our country and not working for themselves , it is also their duty to follow the instructions of government. What about those people who were advocating home qurantine? What would have been the result? Even health care workers also have limitations. One day nobody will be there to man the hospitals.

Even migrant workers are Indians. Govt is not allowing them to go to their home state. Just to prevent corona spreading.

Migrant workers are uneducated, poor people. But people from gulf are highly educated and super rich people.

Why can't they help their mother country, by staying where they are for next two years. Just like migrant workers.

Why can't they ask Gulf Govts to provide them some basic facilities like mediclaim. They worked so hard for their country for so many years leaving their aged parents here in India.

Preboard Medical Test was not conducted? This was the pre-condition to bring stranded Indians from abroad. If 5 corona positive case found it means who ever traveled on that plane may have infected or they might have chances of infection.
After 45 days strict lockdown if we let this happen it means another disaster we may expect. Concerned Authorities must be more sensible now. It would be better to provide free quarantine facilities to those who is back from abroad or provide concessional quarantine facilities.
NRI contributing a lot to Indian economy and contributing to various welfare fund. This is the right time to look out to NRI's morally and financially. Specially our Udupi district has lots of NRI's working abroad from their hard earn money and sacrifices our Udupi district economy has been booming.

Corona Virus no one infect them self , it spreads from unknown people. Only way is to taking precautions but even some times precautions is not enough. Once it infected to any human being . We should support them morally to come out of this horrible situation rather than blaming them.

Lets be sensible, it may or can infect you or me or any of our family member. Lets not blame anyone for this rather we help and support morally and financially to come out of this situation.
