Mangaluru: 17 hotels, 12 hostels ready to quarantine passengers from Dubai

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (ANK)

Mangaluru, May 11: As part of the Vande Bharat Mission, the first flight from Dubai to Mangaluru with 177 passengers on board is scheduled to arrive at the Mangaluru International Airport on May 12 at 10 pm, said IAS officer Rahul Shinde.

Shinde was addressing a meeting held at Mangaluru City Corporation on Monday, May 11. The probationary IAS officer has been given the charge of the handling of the quarantine facilities for those being repatriated.

The district administration stated that necessary arrangements were made to receive the repatriated Indians and that different measures including health check-up would be carried out on their arrival at the airport.

Around 177 passengers are slated to arrive on the first flight to Mangaluru from Dubai. Over 17 hotels and 12 hostels have been arranged to quarantine the passengers. Officials who have been deployed at Mangaluru airport are directed to collect all the necessary information from the passengers.

Officials are appointed to receive the passengers, and look after hotel bookings, arranging transport and ferrying the passengers to the quarantine centres. Shinde also instructed the officials to visit all these points and provide information.

Further, the passengers would be classified under A and B category, based on the symptoms. Passengers who display signs of fever, cough, and cold will be identified under Category A. Such passengers will be directly moved to Wenlock hospital for 14 days of quarantine.

The passengers who are asymptomatic will be placed under hotel and hostel quarantine. The repatriated Indians will be allowed to make a selection concerning their choice of quarantine centres (hotel or hostels). They can select the hotel of their choice for which online booking facility will be arranged at the airport. Once the bookings have been made, they will be transported to the specific hotel arranged for quarantine.

Govt has done a big mistake by arranging transport. Now these people become a nuisance for the country. They will start showing money power. Its better to send them back in the same flight. Govt can use tax payers money for that.

Police personnel, Nurses, Doctors are NOT allowed to go home. They have been given hotel lodge facilities.

They have to complete 14 days Quarantine after Duty days, before going to home.

Recently, Yeddyurappa called a nurse, after seeing News Report. Nurse's child wanted to see mother. But, father has to show the mother from a distance to the child. Nurse was staying in Hotel room, provided by govt.

Also, TV 9 News reporter Ranganath spends time only in Office. If he comes home also he stays in Parking lot. A video showed how his small kid, jumps in joy, by looking at his photo in TV, as it has not seen him for a long time.

Remember, India has some 2,000 deaths... where as US has 85,000 deaths & increasing every day. We can save our neighbours or elderly peoples lives.

In US, for Covid-19 test you need to pay Rs.90,000 - $1,200.. Sometimes, it will costs above Rs.1,00,000 .. But, in India, it is free. I am talking about just the test.. Not treatment.

Unless you have insurance in US, you are dead. But, you will get free treatment in India for Corona virus.

Dubai has lot of cases in recent days... there is a risk these passengers carry.. but when they go from airport to hotel, the driver of the bus needs to be careful too and in the hotel, passengers need to be isolated, not quarantined.. if quarantined many of them together then even if one person has virus he will spread to the group . So isolate in a room individually by social networking, reading books, watching tv or cooking ...

Humble advice to the govt authorities why dont they do covid 19 test immediately once the passengers land at Mangaluru Airport. With immeduate results those who are fit and fine let them be home Quarantine and those who are positive tested let them b hospitalised or send for further medication. By this way the Sate and also poor passengers will save time and money.

Covid-19 takes 14 to 26 days to show the symptom, once infected. Also, Early testing may give Negative result.

So, you need to stay in Govt Quarantine for 14 days & afterwards Home Quarantine for 14 days.

Home Quarantine means, Once in 1 hour, you have to send the Selfie photo. Qurantine Watch App will record your location & time in the photo.

Best thing is tie a 'Radio Collar' ( The one which they tie to Tiger to track it) on every Indian who return from abroad and keep a monitor in DC office....So DC could monitor their presence 24 X 7 !!!....Even they won't be able to go bathroom without being notices.....

Hmmm...who stops you ???...Go ahead and do this as well....When you can quarantine COVID-19 Negative people from Dubai....this cannot be more silly than that....ENJOY...

    Langoolacharya,

    - Radio collar is used in US & few other places, but tied to the leg to track persons. In Karnataka, every hour you need to send selfie to police - if you are in Home Quarantine, using Quarantine Watch App.
App will send your location, photo & time.
If you miss sending Selfie, you will be Again sent to Govt Quarantine for 14 days.

    - Passengers coming from Dubai & Abu Dhabi are testing positive in Kerala. So, we cannot trust, passengers coming from outside India. Mandatory 28 days Quarantine
14 days Govt Facility + 14 days Home

A person found with cough and fever will be admitted to wenlock hospital is it not dangerous. Already there are people who are under quarantine ate there no chances if spreading the virus between themselves. Let the authorities place all the persons comming from Dubai separately and donot .mix with the people who are already at wenlock hospital. You are calling for more danger.

Hostel has student type of facility with govt food.

Hostel is free stay with free food.

It's govt's decision and order and people will follow but see that the govt pays for thier hotel food, stay and other expenses during those days. These people should put forth thier rights and demand at the airport before been sent to the hotels at thier own expense. This is nothing but DADAGIRI by the govt and swindling money from the unemployed people and doing Hafta Wasoli. These people who are asymptomatic and no infection can be asked for self quarantine in thier own houses for 14 days with regular check ups.

    Baptist,

What we have seen till now, even out of District or State passengers have been put into Govt Quarantine for 14 days, it may become 28 days. If they do not follow Home Quarantine of 14 days in Home.

So, you will go to either Student Dormitories for free OR Hotel room booked for 14 days.
No Home Quarantine for first 14 days.

Who told you to pay. Government has arranged many hostels & college dormitories.
I assume, even food is free.

But, you have to spend almost 28 days in Quarantine, for most of the cases. 14 days in Govt Quarantine & afterwards - 14 days in Home Quarantine.

For Home Quarantine, You have to send Selfie photo, every hour. Quarantine Watch App will record time & location, with the photo & send it to the police. If you do not send photo, once in every hour, you will be brought back to Govt Qurantine.

This is why many are suggesting Govt, not to allow any NRIs to come back to India for next 2 years. Once back they put pressure like this. They don't want to quarantine them self. They don't want to pay for the cost of quarantine. They don't want to pay for ticket. They will not follow the instructions given by Govt. Now Govt will understand the mistake that they done.

And we fools who pay 30% of their income as tax , which will be spent now for these people's luxurious lodging facility.

FYI, What NRIs are doing you, your families and your friends will not be able to do for the next 100 years. Because of thier absence you have place in the job market. They are not using govt facilities and resources during thier absence. They are remitting much more than you earn and increasing country's foreign reserves this in turn makes inflation to be in control. What the govt is doing to them in return especially during this time is peanuts during this short period. Most importantly you should open your blind eyes and think before commenting.

    Mr. Baptist,

Do you think, hundreds of people quarantined in each Taluk in both Udupi & Mangalore, do not have their own home.

But, since they came from Gujarath, Mumbai etc.. they have been put into quarantine in Taluk level Quarantine centers.

You guys are Lucky, as even Hotel Quarantine option with hotel food has been given to you. It may cost Rs.40,000 to 50,000 or more, for 14 days. But, still you have the option, if you want better facilities. You can watch TV & have independent rooms.

Others did not have this option & have to eat govt food & adjust govt hostel facilities.

I too heard same thing what you understood. One person who was in quarantine at Bhuvanendra college, Karkala told us that the stay and food is free. But the food is kanji and pickle or boiled rice, watery dal and pickle. One has to sleep on the floor. If one wants bed sheet and pillow, his family members should bring and give. Mosquitoes are constant company during night. One has to wait long time to get one's turn for toilet use.
