Coronavirus evacuation: First flight from Dubai to Mangaluru on May 12

Daijiworld Media Network – Dubai

Dubai, May 7: In a happy news in times of distress, the first flight handling the evacuation operation is all set to leave on May 12 from Dubai to Mangaluru. The timing of the flight which will bring back stranded Indians from Dubai to Mangaluru will be announced soon.

Speaking to Daijiworld, Karnataka NRI (KNRI) Forum Praveen Kumar Shetty said, “The first flight from Dubai to Mangaluru has finally been announced. We had spoken to union minister Sadananda Gowda and other external ministry officials who confirmed about the flight.

“Top priority will be given to six-month pregnant women and above, people with medical emergency and anyone who has any other sort of emergency back home. Passengers from Mangaluru will be quarantined in Mangaluru while passengers from other districts like Udupi and Kasargod will be sent to their respective places where they will be quarantined,” he said.

It may be recalled, Praveen Kumar Shetty had taken the initiative and put in efforts to convince the Indian central government to facilitate flights to help non-resident Indians in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to return to their motherland.

Daijiworld media too had taken the initiative to draw the attention of concerned authorities and exert pressure to include flights from gulf to Bengaluru and Mangaluru. It had hosted live programmes on Daijiworld TV conveying the difficulties of NRIs to the government and the people’s representatives. The copy of the programme was also sent to the chief minister’s office and other concerned departments.

Kannadigas living across the gulf countries had earlier expressed displeasure as no flights from any of the Middle Eastern countries were scheduled to take off in the first list issued by the government of India to bring back stranded Indians from abroad. According to data released by KNRI there are nearly 2,000 UAE residents who had applied for immediate return.

Request you to kindly give information on the Quarantine hotels/lodges which will be provided for the repatriated citizens from other countries to Mangalore. If the exact names of these hotels/lodges/other locations would be issued, I believe it would be easier for international passengers to decide on it. Please let us know!
Also, have the recent international passengers from UAE been quarantined in their respective districts? Or in Mangalore only?

Bringing 2 lakh people from UAE, another 2 lakh from Saudi, Oman, Kuwait is not a problem.
Then another 5 lakh from US, Australia, UK etc.. is not a problem.

Problem is where to Quarantine them.

If they are allowed to go to home & if some one person does not do home quarantine properly, then again whole mangalore has to go for 1 month lockdown.

We are seeing, how Mumbai & Delhi are facing still lockdown. Let's stay in Green or Orange...

the reason we read this news is due to MP from K'Nataka. Also all MPs are busy in their constituencies by way of social work (not distancing) Some of them are doing commendable job.

We are facing one of the toughest times our generation has seen, its hard & everyone has to pay their part of this crisis, I would like to appreciate the efforts and hardwork from our health officials, medical staffs, airports staffs ,pilots & all the crews who facilitate this mass evacuation process around the world to bring our citizens home.
Mangalore awaits your safe arrival, home is where everyone finds comfort especially in this trying times, & importantly we should all follow the guidelines & regulations set up by our heath authorities.

Lets pray that this will be over soon & things will return back to normality at the earliest.

Kannadigas stuck in Kasaragod not allowed to enter Mangalore. But people are brought from Dubai. What logic is this? That too Kasaragod has zero cases for past many days, Whereas Dubai bursting with cases. This is injustice to many mangaloreans who are desperate to go back to their home in Mangalore. Mangalore DC & administration should look into this matter immediately.

I wonder will they be able to maintain proper social distancing in the aircraft too ? Most of inbound flights are full and no social distancing was maintained so far . Govt had specifically said the flights should carry less people so that there is social distancing and control on the spread of the virus.

    Hello every one.

    Travel plan 1
Can anyone tell me what’s the protocol of quarantine.
    1) is it at the Govt facilities
    2) is it in respective homes.

    Travel plan 2

If some one is travelling to Mangalore via Bangalore/ MUMBAI. Even though there is flight connectivity. Where will be the quarantine?
Is it in MUMBAI or in Mangalore.

    Appreciate for the reply.

Kishor Kumar mangalore, first of all people should understand why this quarantine is.Simply dont put out ones frustration .Better in homeland quarantine than waiting elsewhere and get sick. Its that anyone passes border of a land doesnt bring in infection ,and get sick self and spread to others too.Its normal when a pendamic disease is there.Try to practice patience.you dont want that your home people too get sick?
