Mangaluru: MP Nalin seeks invocation of Goonda Act against MLA Zameer Ahmed

Mangaluru, Apr 22: BJP state president and Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, has expressed that former minister and Congress MLA Zameer Ahmed Khan should be arrested under the Goonda Act as he has been providing solid support to miscreants at Padarayanapura, Bengaluru. Nalin was addressing a press conference here on Tuesday April 21.

Nalin observed that the behaviour and statements of Zameer relating to the incident are against the law. He reminded Zameer that this is not dictatorship to seek prior permission from the MLA before visiting a place within his constituency.

Reminding the government that Zameer had issued unlawful statements even in the past, he said that Zameer being anti-social, needs to be jailed. "The media has reported that even after expiry of visa period, 14 persons are continuing to stay at Padarayanapura and it is suspected that Zameer would have provided shelter to them. Therefore, he reasoned that Zameer should also be divested of the assembly membership.

Nalin welcomed the ordinance promulgated by the state government to protect the interests of corona warriors. "On account of this step, the doctors and ASHA workers now have got protection and the trust in the police department is restored. I thank the opposition parties for the support they have been extending to the fight against corona initiated by the government, he stated.

BJP district president Sudarshan Moodbidri, general secretary Sudhir Shetty Kannur and spokesperson Jagadish Shenava, were present.

    Whole world is going thru a very tough time. No one can predict what is in store in the days or months to come.
    Life style will be very different in future. Unless a cure or vaccine is found for corona ,there is very little hope of previous carefree life returning.
    Airlines, Cruiselines, Hotels, Entertainment, vacation resorts, Transportation etc
    are very badly hit. Virgin Air - Australia is about to close shop.Our own travel industry on ventilators.
    Dear Politicians, please stop all hate and communal propaganda. This is of no interest to common man.Think and talk about survival and welfare of all citizens after -if- covid cools down .
    Mr. Kateel , please visit Baikampady APMC location vendors and appraise public how the job well done. .?

    This Zameer Ahmed along with Roshan Beig were reportedly involved in the 720 crore
    IMA scandal where thousands of low income families lost their life savings. However
    both of them escaped scrutiny by law enforcement agencies. Zameer Ahmed's declaration
    of innocence through press release was accepted at face value by the state government.
    Roshan Beig on the other hand ignored repeated summons of CBI and police to appear for
    interrogation. He however visited the Chief minister several times in the meanwhile.
    No case is made out against him also when the charge sheets were filed. How to believe
    that the same government will be serious in dealing with law breakers?
