Mangaluru: Work begins on temporary shops meant for street vendors

Mangaluru, Apr 20: Work on temporary shops being built for street vendors near the State Bank bus stop here began in the morning on Monday, April 20.

These shops are being built at the spot earmarked for the street vendors.

Once built, these shops, it is hoped, will enable the street vendors to conduct their business in an orderly manner.

MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLA Vedavyas Kamath and officials were present.

    Another surprise. Marking the ground is not enough to make a market place.
    Water,Power,Wasrooms,Darinage,Stormwater darins,Parking etc all for
    Temporary purpose. In few weeks rains will appear.
    Success Remains to be seen .

    Before coming up with new ideas, please fill the shops in URWA Market newly build spending crores, we Mangalorians feel sorry for that place not even one shop occupied, only dogs are taking shelter.
    Temporary shop owners will not have funds to pay your requirements.......

    It is unfortunate that Present MLA is not taking any steps to open the New building of Urva Market which was built with the effort of previous MLA. Now it is told that electrical and pipe fittings are being robbed and it has become a place for unethical activities.

    Mangaloreans deserve nicely built market and better facilities. My request to the MLA to do the needful in opening the market at the earliest by convincing the shop keepers and if required reduce the rent to make it affordable and make it open for the public.

    Yes boss URWA is his own place of living from childhood, still not taking any initiatives to open up the place. Its a very sad ending to that newly opened market.

    Looks like planning for a game of kabaddi. All this is bogus the vendors will be back to the original place by giving their daily hafta. The main think in Mangalore is no planning and only show. So many in the above photos are without face masks.

    Already the temporary service bus stand is nearby to this place from last more than 15 to 20 years. Exactly I don't remember. But I can't understand the meaning of TEMPORARY.
