Mangaluru: Complaints filed alleging misuse of border at Talapady by Keralites

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (MS)

Mangaluru, Apr 10: The road between Karnataka and Kerala for patients seeking emergency treatment in the city is opened at Talapady on certain conditions. However, two complaints are filed at Ullal police station accusing some Kerala patients of misusing this facility.

Dakshina Kannada district administration had agreed to give non-coronavirus patients’ treatment in Mangaluru as per the verdict of Supreme Court. The district administration has created a form for the same on its website, which needs to be authorized by the medical officer of Kasargod district government hospital and also the patient entering the city should provide that he or she is not infected with coronavirus (Covid-19).

On Thursday, April 9, it has come to light that two patients have misuse this facility offered on humanitarian grounds. A patient who reported to the hospital complaining of headache had undergone preliminary check up by the doctor. At the same time, an ambulance arrived from Kasargod carrying another patient, in which the patient who reported with headache escaped without informing the doctor as per the complaint filed in the Ullal police station.

There is also a suspicion on the proof of certificate of Covid-19 test that is given to the patients by the district government hospital of Kasargod. The reason for this suspicion is that a patient who reported of heart ailment was found to have high fever. He was sent to district hospital for Covid-19 test and brought back to private hospital. A complaint is filed in this regard also. So far Covid-19 confirmation of the said patient is not available.

Though the border is being strictly manned by the police, incidents like this are putting pressure on the district administration which is trying its best to curb the spread of Covid-19 pandemic.

A surprising observation about Keralites here. I do not see even one Keralite blaming their administration or ministers of not providing good hospitals and medical facilities. But, they are all abusing and blaming Karnataka to which many Keralites come for education and job.

Soon after this is over they will again go over boasting about themselves as most literate state, state with most number of international airports, Gods own country etc..etc,.. A message to Keralites, please hold your ministers and administration accountable instead of throwing stones on others and blaming others.

Allowing kasargod patients into Mangalore is not far from risk. Whatever medical report they bring or show, anything is possible to fool the authorities. We should not forget that inspite of medical check up at airport CORONA entered India. so our political leaders and district administration should look into the matter and we mangaloreans fully support them

Muslims of India were Hindus few centuries ago. All coexisted . Foreign invasion converted the weaker society of people to other religions. There is no Islamophobia in this matter.

People have already witnessed the infection later, though the commuters were thoroughly screened at airport terminals.

Precautions need to be taken whenever a epidemic/pandemic is observed so that there is no burst of infection.

Keralites as such not coming to Mangalore, people from nearby villages of Mangalore are coming to Mangalore that is the nearest place for them. They had the illusion that we are all living in the same country and everything would be taken on the national spirit. We can't blame them as they were hearing Nationalist slogans mainly from the ruling people of Karnataka.

People south of Mangalore share the same South Canara culture and we can't just build a border like this and start discriminating people just by which said of a human-made border they live. It's a natural phenomenon that people around a city depend on it for lots of services. Now they learned a bitter truth and after many deaths due to ignorance and inhumanity of the people who they thought their own, they will start building services on the other side. I wish they don't shut the doors when the tide in case turns the other side.

it is not a question of culture, it is about quarantine and lockdown situation because of virus...Since all these "nearby" villages come under KL state, they should be in the said state and also the same district at this time. what do you mean by "Keralites as such are not coming to Mangalore"..are you saying people of Kasaragod are not "Keralites" still? even after more than 60 years in Kerala...this is the problem.. According to you these places are part of Kerala but people living there are not part of Kerala? Oh God...current problem is medical pandemic... nationalism, ruling party, slogans all can wait...slogans, ism etc. are there all over India...does Kerala not have slogans (mostly false), ism etc.? of late BJP has come to power In KN, otherwise it was not BJP which ruled KN for the most part....

second issue / background is Kerala involvement in Mangalore social/cultural political issues and in many cases in pure crimes in MLR...many crimes can be traced back to Kerala...KN home ministry stated Kerala involvement in recent NAA/NRC agitation where 2 Mangalureans died...MP Shobhakka also stated about mass migration from KL to Mangalore and its effects...Malayaaalis / malayaalam is earning black spot here due to these issues...

You need to update yourself on news reports because it seems you just happened to come across this report and just posted. You may not have heard that in some places here in Mumbai as well as in Karnataka too there are restriction on inter-locality movement of people, and let me tell they are all citizens of one nation.I can bet you don't know the head or tail of corona or related issues. May by corona you are under the impression that it is model name of a particular Japanese car, which they have stopped long ago.

Nothing new. The misuse was always there even before COVID19. Its been going on for years. DK esp Mlore has become a safe haven for all notorious activists of North Kerala. They commit a crime and hide and hole up in Mlore with their friends till the issue cools down. This is an open secret and also given our Mlore a bad name as a 'sleeper cell' for some activities . This is to such an extent that the mention was also made by US non-fiction crime writer Fredrick Forsyth in his novel 'Afghan'. What more proof does one want.

Headache created to the citizens of DK, District Administration, Security, Medics,Paramedics and State by few Mallus. They must be shown the door ASAP.

SC can rescind the order given on humanitarian grounds and advise Kerala Govt for the creation of facilities at their end, instead of spreading the infection to the mass here.

Few doctors from some hospital can be made to attend them at kerala itself by paying these specialists from that state exchequer . Services of Doctors may not come free anywhere. Let them give double benefits to the doctors, free car and misc allowances.

Ìn this case, our elected represenatives should immediately inform the CM who in turn should appraise the honorable SC the mis-use and the risks involved.

DK is already been termed as a HOTSPOT for no fault of its residents as the most affected victims are transit perople.

Even in case the lockdown is eased in Karnataka, DK will be excluded.

If this misuse continues resulting in spike of infections, the lockdown is going to continue till June or more for no fault of ours.
