Mandya, Apr 9: Four young men succeeded in fleeing after threatening the police at Hadanur check post in K R Pet taluk in the district that the police would contract coronavirus infection if they come in contact with them. "We are infected with coronavirus infection. Our hands have been sealed, and as per order, we should remain in quarantine. If you touch us, the infection will get transmitted to you," the men reportedly told the police on Wednesday April 8 night and went away.

The team of four youth had arrived at the said check post at 11 pm from the direction of Mysuru towards K R Pet in an auto rickshaw. When the police at the check post stopped them, they scared the police away by claiming that they can spread the disease by just touching them.

The men pushed the barricades aside on their own before moving ahead. Even though the police followed the auto rickshaw thereafter, they could not find it as the three-wheeler had deviated from the state highway and moved on some village road by then.

K R Pet tahsildar M Shivamurthy, and town station sub-inspector Byatarayana Gowda, visited the spot and collected details from the check post staff.

The tahsildar said that checking at the taluk borders has been intensified. He said that the unidentified youngsters who entered the taluk in this manner would be identified.
