Udupi, Mar 23: Many of the private buses in the city have suspended operations for the second day. Some buses plying between Udupi to Kundapur have resumed service on Monday, March 23, with very minimum occupancy. Passengers are fearing to travel reportedly due to the coronavirus outbreak.

All services operating from Mangaluru to Udupi, Manipal, and Kundapur have been suspended till March 31 due to Mangaluru lockdown. City buses in Udupi may resume their operations from Tuesday with trips cut to certain areas. Bus operators are reportedly facing huge losses.

Buses on Karkala-Udupi route have also stopped their operations. Only a handful of buses are operating on this route. KSRTC has suspended all its operations from Udupi. Shivamogga-Mangaluru buses are stranded in Udupi as they are not allowed to enter Dakshina Kannada district. "We were stopped at Hejamady toll gate and were not allowed to continue our journey. Buses with no passengers are allowed to go further," said a driver.

All contract carriage services operating between Mangaluru and Mumbai have also suspended their operations.

Government has taken a good preventive method against deadly corona virus. If we all cooperate with the administration it's for us and for our family..Public transport system is very dangerous for crew and passengers. We all Udupikars act smart and make our UDUPI corona free.
Some people suffer with inconvenience...but little suffering is better than death isn't it?
